Daily fever for weeks and blood results

For 6 weeks now I've had fatigue and daily low grade fevers, usually around 37.8, 37.9 or 38. Sometimes it's a bit lower in the day but I do have to take paracetamol to feel better. In addition neck glands have been up for 6 weeks. I've not had a cough or sore throat or lost weight. I had a complete blood count last week which showed I'm a bit anemic. The doctor says she's not sure why I'm having persistent low grade fevers and lethargy and said maybe she will refer me for a chest X-ray but she left the phone call without really much of a plan. I can't see why she'd mention a chest X-ray if my glands are up in my neck. This was a telephone call and I've not actually been examined. Since this is going on is it possible a cbc doesn't always detect cancer because my gp felt the blood result would have shown that. I'm at a loss what to think or do because it's been 6 weeks of this. Any ideas or anyone had symptoms like this before a diagnosis?

  • I have had a low grade fever since June 2020. Happens most days and when the fever arrives, I feel flu-like- shivery and aching. Varies between 37.8 and 38.6. I have had loads of Covid tests and 2 antibody tests, all negative.

My GP has been excellent and I have been tested extensively- only constant finding so far is high levels of eosinophils. I've had chest x ray, referral to infectious diseases, blood cultures, CT of chest, abdo and pelvis with contrast, ECG, echo, nerve conduction tests, referral to rheumatology and am now with haematology (who are going to look for certain blood markers -she mentioned proteins and genetic tests).

Lymph nodes have been enlarged periodically- inguinal, near ear and one under collar bone. I've also recently found a lump and am waiting to be seen in the breast clinic.

  • Hello, are you still having the fevers.  For over a year now I've been getting temperatures up to 38 every night around the same time.  I feel immense burning sensations as well, lymph nodes are continued to be swollen, and sweating too.  Happens areound 6-8pm each night and lasts a few hours before going back to normal.

really would like to learn how to treat this or resolve it as it's becoming debilitating

  • Hello guys, Do you get ANY answer what can couse this?? i can relate to you all soooo much. I read your storys and thinking what the hell is going on here... Like how many people have this fever.. i personaly never heard anyone having that kind of fevers for no reason.. in my home country they say that 37.2-37.5 is a FEVER. Like it should have reason (if its not your usual temperatute and you are not feeling good)  But as yours -my blood test come back fine , no autoimune desese no nothing , no covid. I stillstruggle with that 8months later. Im going to my home country hope to ask some answers there. Do you guys someone get ANY answer what could couse this?? Or maybe you know what kind of test should be done to make yourself relax and make sure there is nothing serious??Thankyou so much for any answer...

  • My husband has been suffering some of these symptoms for the last 8months He has now been diagnosed with endocarditis

  • Hi. I would be eternally grateful if you tell me what was the cause of your illness at the end? Was it really Covid?

I've had same symptoms for more than a month. Done all sorts of tests and all normall. Covid PCR test has been negative 3 times. It's driving me crazy and causing a lot of anxiety.

Please tell me what it was. How about your friend? Hope you are both fully recovered now x

  • Hi, sorry to hear this for you. 19 months of fevers now, most days. Usually not higher than 38. Often around 37.8. Fatigue, headaches etc. They still think long covid after all sorts of tests. Something new over the last month is that I've also been getting frequent acute diarrhea on a regular basis so im getting that checked out. Today it's lasted 5 hours already. I've totally given up alcohol and eliminated fatty/fried foods as of the last couple of weeks. So far not much difference. It might be worth you trying some sort of detox diet too if you can. Otherwise, keep going back to the doctor to check in with them. They should give you regular blood tests at the very least to see if anything changes. Good luck!

  • Thank you sooo much for coming back to me. It means a lot. So sorry to hear you are still having symptoms.

I just had my blood test results and there is something wrong with my liver. I don't drink much alcohol so I think mine is long covid as well which makes the liver imflamated.  But I'm no doctor so I'll see her next week to find out. What a nightmare. The main issue is that Covid tests keep being negative.

I hope we all get rid of this soon Take care x

  • Sorry about your result, although in some way it's good to know you're getting closer to the cause! I'm going to push for loads more tests again as new symptoms I'm having (regular bouts of acute diarrhea lasting hours) just isn't normal and it's affecting daily life. I really wish you all the best! Update me when you know more. Good luck! X

  • Thank you. Yes good idea to do a full test. Hope things get better soon. I'll uodate everyone here once I spoke to the GP next week. Please keep in touch x
