Hi.
Im worried & confused and wondered if someone, anybody, can offer some clarity.
My 74 year old father has been diagnosed over the phone today with stage 4 lung cancer which is also in his lymph nodes.
Doctor has told him that they will not start any treatment for 3 months but this is "normal protocol" and NOT to do with the CoVid 19 outbreak - is this normal ?
He originally had 2 nodules removed in September 2019 but has had no biopsy since - just a PET scan - so i am wodering how they can make the stage 4 diagnosis without a biopsy?
I know these are unprecedented times but is also normal to tell a 74 year old widower he has satge 4 lung cancer over the phone when he is all alone ?
Todays escalation in diagnosis was a total surprise as last week, when they originally told him over the phone it was cancer, they just said that he needed to come in for treatment in 3 months and they only confirmed the stage 4 diagnosis today and reading the prognosis you'll appreaciate why he has concerns and questions.
Any comments or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Peter.
