Colon cancer age 19

Hiya, I'm new to this chat. Umm basically I had gone to the loo a few weeks ago and there was just clots of blood, no stool at all, and I regularly have mucus in my stool, and bad swelling in my stomach. I have very irregular consistency of stools and sometimes don't go for days. I had showed my mother the blood clots and she had taken me to out of hours hospital to get checked, there they done an internal and said there was no teared tissue or anything like that, and that I will need to go to gp for tests which with all this pandemic happening I haven't had yet, so I'm just wondering what are more symptoms?

  • Good evening Sugarpuff123

I'm sorry to hear that you've had a health concern recently. Given that the our of hours Dr recommended that you speak to your GP it would seem sensible to get in touch with them to disucss your symptoms and arrange an appointment if necessary. There could be a number of causes for your problem so please try not to worry too much at this stage and speak to your GP who will be best placed to help you.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Sugarpuff123.

I'm not a doctor, but I do know that colorectal cancer at age 19 is very very rare.  An internal check can only go a short way into your colon and so could miss a tear that's deeper inside.  You'd need a colonoscopy to see any further.

I know it's easy for me to say, but do try not to worry.  This almost certainly isn't cancer.
