Lumps found

Hi all. I have just discovered this forum after searching doctor Google lol

I found a strange area on my breast a few weeks ago in the shower. It's at the inner top of my breast (near my cleavage). I was due my period so left it. However over the weekend I found another lump just above it. Booked gp straight away Monday and she instantly felt both lumps and said she would refer me as suspected breast cancer. I was thrown as I expected her to say that they were just normal and send me home. I am 41 and my auntie had breast cancer and died at a young age.

Since then my emotions have been all over the place. I'm convinced it's breast cancer. I'm planning how I'm going to tell people. It's all I can think about. Is this normal or am I just being over dramatic?

Thanks all x

  • Hello Pebs,

I just wanted to welcome you to our forum. How funny that you found it while searching the famously unreliable Dr Google ;)  I hope you won't have to wait too long for your appointment. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you while waiting to find out more.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,

  • Hello and thank you for your welcome. I received a call this morning from hospital appointments. Apparantly they want me to have a mammogram before my breast clinic appointment. Is this normal procedure? My mammogram isn't until the 20th March and appointment for breast clinic is 3rd of April. Seems such a long time to wait.

  • Hi, it's normal to have the mammogram first, however your appointment on the 3rd confuses me a little.

When I went to the breast clinic I first had a consultation with the specialist who then marked up the lump. I then had several mammograms followed by an ultrasound followed by a biopsy....this is called the triple assessment. I was told all along the lump was a fibromedma and nothing to worry about....sadly this wasn't the case...

im sorry your gp said she suspected cancer as no one knows 100% until the tests are done...

Im hoping you'll find out more on the 20th, the waiting really is a head masher...once you know what your dealing with you really do just crack on.....

let us know what happens? X
