Hi This is Hazel I am 18 month post radiotherapy for tonsil cancer,I had no symptoms what so ever Throat or mouth wise . I only presented with a Lump in the hollow of my collar bone. I could swallow , drink and eat normally ,so normal was my life’s I had just completed cycling 1100 km in southern Spain the ine and I my time I had tonsillitis was in 2003 !! Which turned into quincies this jn edfect left my right tonsil vulnerable and lo and behold 15 year strong later in popped the h p v 16 + virus. If you have any doubts if course go to the drs.
hope this helps just remember we are all different this was my experience.

Hi Lottie,
My name is Allie and I have had tonsil cancer but am now clear and pretty much as good as new. I was diagnosed in October 2018 and treated December/January. I had some recovery time and went back to work in June last year after 7 months off. I had tonsilitis off and on for years but eventually I had a bout where one of my tonsils was really swollen and wouldn't go back down. Then my lymph nodes swelled up and that was the ball really on the slates. I also lost my voice every winter for about a week and was sometimes very hoarse. That happened for about 20 years and it was investigated lots of times but no one ever thought of HPV.
I have answered questions about my treatment a few times and if you click on my posts you will get a whole load of details about my treatment which I can't face writing down again ( sorry if that sounds rude, it isn't meant to be) so get back to me if you want to ask anything. I'm totally up for answering anything I can.
But - this is usually very treatable. It's unusual and *** but things get better. My job is literally talking the whole day, every day and you wouldn't think that this time last year I had no voice. I am just back in from a pilates class and in better shape physically than I have been in years.
So, check it all out. You don't say if it is you or a loved one who might be ill or your reasons for asking so I'll just wish you hope and strength and send a big hug.I
Allie
