Burning sensation in right breast very scared

Hello everyone,

im 11 days away from having my appointment at the breast clinic,I'm 35 and with no children.  The last 5 months I've had a burning/tingling sensation on my right breast, specifically in one area top right in line with my armpit. I've seen 5 doctors and they have all examined my breast and said they cannot feel anything, however when I'm home the pain and sensation is constantly their. I'm convinced I can feel a lump but it may just be a lymph node that I keep squeezing. I have a pain in my right shoulder blade and my legs have started aching and feeling so heavy. I'm constantly crying and anxious. No pain medication helps and nothing takes away the sensation. I'm convinced I have breast cancer and even more so convinced I've left it so long that it's now spread. My mum was diagnosed with womb cancer around the time this pain started and suffered a catastrophic stroke after surgery. I'm so stressed out and exhausted. I can deal with more heartache and I just want this to be okay. Has anyone else had these feelings in their breast? It's just the one breast! And underneath has severely sharp tissue pain.  Thank you in advance for any responses. All my love lil

  • Hi,

so glad to hear you have been given the all clear.
I'm trying to stay positive but at the moment I'm in a bubble of fear.
his long did your burning pain last?
I will let you know how I get on. It's a one stop appointment with a consultant too, so hopefully I will know exactly what it is.

  • I was exactly the same - terrified. I still have the pain, but it's not as noticable since I was given the all clear as I'm no longer worried about it.. Yes mine was the one stop too, and a very quick visit, saw the consultant first then the mamogram then the scan, it was the radiographer who did the scan told me all looked fine on both. x

  • Ok thank you for replying. I'm in a bubble of complete fear atm. Sorry for all the questions. Xx

  • I absolutely understand, I felt exactly the same x

  • Hi,

I'm 62, excuse me jumping on but I'm having the very same pain. Taking pain killers, hot water bottle etc but still there 24 hrs later. Absolute beside myself with fear. Breast clinic appointment on Saturday. How did you get on with your pain? Did you get a diagnosis?
    thank you x

  • Hi

How did you get on with the burning issue in your breast? as i have now started experiencing the same thing, in the same place in the right breast.

It is making me very anxious.

    Many thanks

  • Hi there, I posted the post directly above your back in June. I attended the breast clinic and had a mammogram and an ultrasound. Before those I saw a breast surgeon who examined my breast and  assured me staraight away that it was all hormone related. Even though I'd spent a week ' googling' which led me to be convinced I had something serious. Because I'm 62 I didnt even realise ( further confirmed  by Dr Google) that I could even get hormone fluctuations as I'm way past the menopause. So it just shows you how we can make ourselves ill with worry. Please try not to worry, the consultant says pain is not a common symptom of breast cancer, you'd more likely have other visual symptoms too.
    I hope this helps

  • Hey everyone

I had been having left breast discomfort just before my period for around three months but it always went away once my period arrived. Same thing happened this month but I was so fed up I examined it this time and discovered quite a large lump. I had had a routine mammogram a few months before but Panic still set in and I got an appointment with my GP straight away. She was certain in was a cyst and referred me to the breast clinic. Between my GP appt and the clinic, my family all tested positive for covid and I had to wait four weeks in the end before getting to the clinic. They were through longest four weeks of my life. I had a burning sensation/pain in my breast, armpit and my side/back where my bra stamp sits and convinced I had something sinister. It turns out it was a cyst. I had an examination, an ultrasound and the doctor drained it there and then too. The lump has gone but the burning sensation/pains are still there. I asked the doc if the cyst could cause them and he replied no, its hormonal. I was given the all clear but still a bit concerned as to why the burning etc is still there...very distracting! I'm 42 and putting it down to Peri menopause.

I will contact her again to see if she can prescribe something but i wanted to share so some one can maybe  get a little piece of mind from my experience.

I hope you all get good news too.

  • Hi Pepper

only this week my daughter has had exactly the same thing as me and the breast clinic also diagnosed as it being due to hormones. The breast consultant had advised she takes Evening primrose oil capsules for the burning type pain. I hope this helps and you get relief from the pain soon.
