Can anyone tell me if they were diagnosed with prostate cancer when it had advanced to their bones at initial diagnosis . Thanks
Hi, my last Psa test was .79, prevous one was .7, the a couple of years ago all between 1.5 and 1.7. Thought it looked unusual that it dropped actually.
So on that front things look ok but all the literature suggests that just as you have a low Psa doesn'tmean you dont have PC.
Hence my questions in regard to anyone who had been diagnosed after it had spread ( assume in that any previous Osa testing showed nothing obvious for them ) Hope that makes sense.
Thanks
Hi Redcollector.
I think you should discuss your symptoms with your GP.
HI
I was diagnosed with advanced prostrate CA with a PSA of 3465 in November last year. The only symptom I had though I didnt relate at the time was severe right hip pain that came and went. Im 52 with no family history or tick any of the boxes. Started chemo last week and obviously on hormone jabs.
Im a paramedic so I have spent a lot of time researching because I want to be an informed patient, its just my way of dealing.
After diagnosis the PSA is really only a marker for future treatment so dont dwell on that too much.
Im dealing with it this way. Im not curable but I am treatable so in the simialr way to insulin dependant diabetics, I can be treated and I intend to be treated for a very very long time. This last month alone has brought to our attention a few exciting new treatments. Lu-1777PSMA and CAR T cells.
Make sure your calender has more entries of fun things to do instead of hospital appointments.

Hi Tony, thanks for your reply.
i take it your initial diagnosis came about due to your hip pain? Presumably when they discovered a psa so high.
I had a psa test this week that was 1. So on that front I am very very low.
unfortunatrly I have read that some rarer PC's which coincidently can be more aggressive can gave a very low, even normal PSA.
My worry is that my right leg has started to lose muscle strength and mass in both thigh and calf along with pain in my hip, lower back and leg. This sounds like a nerve type pain but is not constantly there which doesn't add up, so my thinking is that it's possible I may have a tumour in my spine that I'd causing the issue.
clearly on looking at data pc is a good candidate for creating such tumours, along with other symptoms I have as frequent need to pee, erectile dysfunction etc
So my original idea when posting my question was to see if any other people with advanced pc had low psa levels.
clearly in your case you don't, so from my perspective that is a positive thing. As I am retrying to convince myself that if indeed I did have advanced pc then my psa would not be 1.
hope that makes sense.
good luck with your treatment may you stay well for a very long time.

It depends on biopsy results/On Gleason score. I've got (In Gleason scale) 4+3=7,what basically means that I've for a prostate cancer on medium level. However,I need to do bones scan too.
Hi Al
It took 6 weeks from gp appoint ment ot get to urology which is when the digital exam gave the urologist an immediate answer because there was no feeling around. I had blood done straight away. It was 2 weeks later when I went for a biopsy that Iwas told my PSA and then he showed me my bone scan and it is every bone but luckily not in liver, lungs brain etc. It seems that everyones diagnosis is different so I always say deal with your own findings along with your oncology team and only use other peoples diagnisis as research material. There have been so many people told they have a certain time left only to be here 5 years later and research is bounding ahead so when you see people being told they have a certain time left that was based on information 5 years ago or more.
We can all hit this. Im using CBD oil that I believe is doing wonders with inflamation and keeping my immune system in check and giving it a boost.
Wishing yu all the best
Tony
