sorry to hear you have had such a rotten experience, Having been through the bit of going for colposcopy later followed by diathermy to cervix under general anaesthetic for dysplasia in my cervical cells, you have my sympathy. On that occasion, the idiot ward doctor came round with the usual consent form for the operation, and asked me to sign to have a laparascopic sterilization, Thank God I knew what that term meant, and I played war with the idiot. All the other women on the ward were in for that, I wasnt. I told him I wanted a fresh form., and when he couldnt find one I wrote in red pen all over it saying what I was in for, and wrote the word NOT in capitals before what hed written and I had crossed out. If life as a long term patient has taught me anything, it is NEVER to assume medical staff have read your notes, and never to assume the contents are accurate. I dont want to worry people but a friend attended our local hospital for gynae issues and they asked her about her recent pregnancy, she hasnt been pregnant and  they had muddled her notes up with another woman. Inexcusable. I hope your treatment works well for you, but please, always insist they check they have the right person, the right notes, and the right procedure and that you understand what they are planning to do.  All best wishes for a swift return to healthx

Ive just had a response from the moderator who says no problem taking info from my other specialists with me, like you say we need to trust our medical teams but when they mess things up it does shake you to the foundations, Im keeping my positive head on today, and will try to remember that I give lectures occasionally on the patient experience, so if I get a duffer working with me my job will be to help educate them to get it right, hope it wont be a problem cos all the staff I have encountered so far have been brilliant, with the exception of one stressed and ratty pharmacy tech who rang me up and gave me earache because Id had the cheek to leave the hospital before she came back with a pack of tablets I hadnt actually asked for! never mind....its sunny today, and that horrible grey cloudy wet stuff has gone. all good wishes to you.
