Breast pain and underarm pain

I have been through the menopause and have not had a period for well over 18 months now. I have not needed to have any form of HRT and have had no real problems. I have developed shooting pains in my breasts and underarms and my breasts feel really tender all the time and painful to touch.Almost like severe bruising as if I have been punched repeatedly in them.( I haven't )

They are also extremely itchy and hot inside and I feel like I have a fever or shivery intermittently. The pain is now severe and I cannot bear anything touching them. Even my arms resting on them is agony. I am 53 and am very overweight.

Can anyone advise me on this as I am very worried?

  • Hi, out of interest have you been called forward for breast screening yet?

Your symptoms may well be menopause related but to be sure you need to see your GP. It will put your mind at rest.

    good luck

  • Please don't hesitate to go to your Dr. Hopefully nothing wrong but they are symptoms I had and was diagnosed with breast cancer last August.

  • Been to GP and he is also concerned. Breast Screening next week. But the more I speak to people the more it doesnt look good. Trying to remain positive. Doctor said unlikely to be menopausal as I have not had a period for over 2 years.

  • Yes Screening is next week and GP advised it is unlikely to be menopausal as last period was 2 years ago or more.

  • Oh I am pleased you got an appointment for screening. They'll soon sort you out. Good luck and let us know how you get on?

  • Please don't panic. Keeping my fingers crossed that your ok

  • What sort of breast cancer do you have?

  • I had symptoms over five years ago... They found a small lump and lump in my arm pit. Eventually they said no cancer but I made them remove the lump which turned out to be a lipoma. Last summer got the same pains severe breast pain and underarm. I left it for about 6 weeks thinking maybe hormonal. Luckily my dr put me on a 2 week wait for the breast clinic. I was told on the day it was cancer. I've had a lumpectomy and sentinal nodes taken out. Currently had my 5th chemo., although I have 3 more to go, then another op. Radiotherapy and 10 years of tablets. They say I'm early stage breast cancer but I didn't want them to be too specific as I need to keep abit of posativety and my tumour is grade 3......dont over think your situation till you go other wise you'll make yourself ill. Dont read the forums as you'll believe you have cancer. Stay posative.... I still felt OK to a degree until I was told I had to have chemo..... Then it hit me like nothing before

  • Sorry did not see your post until now. Yes I have tried not to look it up on Google or anything because of that.  Trying to stay positive.

  • Hi Bissy
