Worried I may have endrometrial/fallopian tube cancer

Hi,

I'm new to posting here so bear with me. I'm going through the horrible phase of tests, waiting for biopsy results, and trying to find out exactly what is wrong with me.

Started as a little niggly pain lower left abdomen on Christmas day morning. Went to GP a few days later when pain was getting slightly worse, was very tender when she examined me, but had no other symptoms. She ordered an ultrasound. The following day I woke in excruciating pain at 5am, I couldn't move any part of my body without the sharp pain searing through my whole left abdomen. Fortunately, my OH had not yet left for work so he and my daughter took me to A&E. The pain subsided a lot over the following days, now I can just feel that it is swollen (if that makes sense?).

To cut a very long story short, over a series of weeks now I have had X-rays, blood tests, CT scan, Ultrasounds, Hysteroscopy and an attempted MRI scan (I told them I was claustrophobic, but they still sent me!).  The scans showed a thickened endometrium and a fluid-filled left fallopian tube. Because of the thickened endometrium, I had the hysteroscopy so waiting for the biopsy results from that - they said 4-6 weeks wait! That was last Wednesday. CA125 test came back normal. The MRI scan was supposed to get a better look at everything, but i couldn't do it. Felt a right idiot but I did tell them! I'm now just waiting for the next step.

Has anyone else had a similar experience to this?

  • Hello peasea,

I just wanted to welcome you to our forum. I hope you won't have to wait too long for your biopsy results. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you while waiting for these important results especially if you were told it could take 4-6 weeks. It's good news that your CA125 test came back normal.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Lucie,

    Thank you for replying.

I've been keeping myself busy with work and my daughter. I've had a few days rest from the hospital too, which has helped. It was all getting a bit much! I know they have to do these tests, but it all seems so frantic and sudden and no one really explains anything to you. This leaves you with no choice really but to turn to Dr Google! Doctors seem so scared of saying anything remotely reassuring or what they think it might be that you are left wondering all sorts of things. I know they are very busy and also can't give a diagnosis without having all tests back, but it would be nice if they/someone spent some time explaining what they are doing and why.

    Anyway, moan over.

    Peasea x

  • Hello,

hope you are well have you had any update since your last post? I am going through something very similar.

  • Hello jmoam17,

I'm sorry to hear that you are going through a similar experience - I am well, thank you. After weeks of tests, including a hysteroscopy and biopsy all was normal from a gynecological perspective and I was discharged. The diagnosis was something I had never heard of 'Epiploic Appendigitis' - it rights itself in the end so no treatment was required.

I hope that you soon too have the news you are waiting for.

    Take care,
