Hello and merry Christmas!

Hi everyone.

not sure whether I should even be posting this here, so I’ll start off saying Merry Christmas!

I fell poorly in Sept 2015 with glandular fever and I’ve never been right since. I started feeling a bit worse in February this year and I had uncontrollable itching and rashes. Bloods came back WBC majorly abnormally high. Anyways I’ve been getting a lot worse the last 3/4 months. I’ve a massive widespread uncontrollable itching accompanied by a huge rash, I’m extremely tired, I can be asleep for 12-14 hours at night, I’ll fall asleep at work, I used to be able to walk my dogs 5-10 miles a day on the moors and go to the gym and I’m now lucky enough to walk them 30 minutes a day). I feel extremely weak, my legs are always shaking. I’ve lost 2 stone in 3 weeks, I’ve had a massive loss of appetite, I’m always visibly shivering/cold but I have massive  night sweats (almost a salty smell??) I feel sick pretty much all the tkme. ’ve had a swollen node behind my head for about 6-7 months, I’ve four run my groin for about 4 months, one under both armpits, one between my breast and armpit and one above my collar bone, all rock hard and painless. I also commonly have headaches and dizziness, most recently having abdo pain and vision problems but I’m assuming vision is because I’m tired.  My blood results keep on coming back abnormal (4 weeks ago I had one, HB is low. White bloods high. Platelets high.  Haematocrit low. Monocyte high and eosinophils highb Previously just my WBC & eosnophils have been raised but because my WBCs are lowering (still abnormal) the doctors didn’t want to do anything. I’m also getting joint pain and sometimes struggling to walk (combined with my weakness/shaky legs)

But anyways I then saw another doctor last Friday who saw my blood results, took one look at me, examined me and said she can feel more swollen nodes & apparently my spleen is massively enlarged so she fast tracked me to Haematology. She also sent me for more bloods and they again came back abnormal. WBC high, neutrophils high, eosinophils high, albumin high and Haemoglobin low.  I’ve also been to dermatology and they prescribed me antihistamines but they’re useless and no cream will settle my skin (right now it’s literally peeling off).

I am feeling a bit worried recently. I am a healthcare assistant in my local hospital and I’m majorly struggling to the point I’m having to find another job. All the doctors consultants nurses etc I work with  have all said they’re worried about me too and something isn’t right. I just don’t know what to do or think any more.

If anyone has any ideas what it can potentially be I’d appreciate it.

  • Oh my ...

No wonder your confused .. can't believe they've just left you with so much going on ... think you need to be more firm, in saying something isn't right and you want more tests or scans ... or ask at work where to go to get more help .. surly there's someone high up who will listen .. maybe take someone with you for any appointments you can get who will back you up .. loosing that much weight in two weeks needs looking into ...

I'm not medically qualified,  but that doesnt look right ... it's your health fight for it ... good luck ... let us know how you go ... Chrissie x

  • Hi! I’m currently awake because I’m itching so bad only managed to stay awake 8 hours yesterday.  I’ve been fast tracked to haematology so there’s nothing much more I can do now but one of my colleagues took my details about two - three week ago and said she was going to speak to the haematology team so i think they’re already aware about me. I don’t really have anyone to take with me. My brothers girlfriend came with me but she’s getting tests etc for lymphoma so I’d feel unfair for her to come with me when she’s going through it herself

  • Got my fast track haematology appointment through yesteday. It’s thud Monday coming. Anyone got any tips on what I need to take with me/what to expect??
