Do i have signs of Lung cancer?

Hi

I have had a chest cough for almost 4 months. I went the docs and they said i have a rare bug that is immune to anti biotics. They gave me very strong anti biotics to try and help combat this. They also sent me for an xray to see if my tubes had inflamed.  The anti biotics calmed my cough down but hasnt got rid of it.  The xray came back clear 2 weeks ago. So i thought great i will be fine. But 2 days ago i spat blood and again last night. Its. Not a great amount and am not sure if its from my lungs? I didnt actually cough it up, the blood was just there in my mouth all of a sudden.  I couldnt see where it was coming from.  Today i have woke up and my right side feels a tiny bate achy.  I am not in pain nor do i struggle to breathe. I am also 35 and ex smoker. I havent smoked for almost 6 years.   Just wonder if my xray would of showed if i had cancer or something weird and if this blood instance is something to worry about

Thanks

Chris

  • I'm not a medic, but know enough to say that you should push your GP until you get answers. Certainly if you get new symptoms. Your GP needs to know that.

Off the top of my head, maybe you should ask your dentist to take a look as well? The blood might come from inflamed gums, for example. You have probably looked closely yourself, but your dentist will see things you cannot.

But I stress that I am not a medic, so your GP needs to take the lead here.

  • I'm not a doctor, but I think a recent clear X-Ray make lung cancer very unlikely.

Even so, with these new symptoms you should go back to your GP.

  • So i went to see the doctor again and he said i have no other red flags that make him concerned that its cancer but the blood is a concern.

Appointment with the hospital but earliest is Feb.  Has said that my chest xray being all clear is a good sign.

I still get blood in my mouth without coughing so I have no idea where its coming from. So now worried where its coming from.

  • What a worrying time for you - but there's no reason to assume it's cancer.

Have you seen a dentist? Your dentist might be able to spot something that would explain the blood.

What hospital service have you been referred to?  My guess is ENT (Ear, nose, throat).

  • Perfect time for me.  Wife has just found out she is pregnant also so head all over

No not made an appointment for dentist. Am like 95% sure its not gums as they look healthy/normal.

The appointment is for respiratory medical centre.
