Panendoscopy and biopsy

Hi

Hi going to have my panendoscopy and biopsy next Month, to tell you the truth after looking it up on the internet and the risks involved I'm not sure if I can go through with it. I'm trying to stay positive but my gut is telling me I have throat cancer and the treatment seems scary not to mention the rehilabition when treatment is over. I'm a mess right now...Has any body been through this and lived to tell the tale, please would love to here from you

  • Hi Ruth39. Welcome to the forum.

I went through a panendoscopy and biopsy myself nearly two years ago.  The procedure itself is fine, but the wait for results was worrying, but fortunately I was clear.

By a coincidence a couple of months ago I got chatting to a taxi driver and he told me that he'd been diagnosed with throat cancer two years earlier. He'd had radiotherapy with a mask. He said it wasn't as bad as he'd thought, and he certainly seemed well enough. And you wouldn't know he'd had it since he was talking quite normally.

When we go for tests then we all fear the worse, but that really doesn't mean the worst is going to happen. My gut told me I had throat cancer - yet I got the all clear.  You simply can't trust your gut in these matters.
