Breast lump

Hi everyone I'm chloe I'm 29 so it's been a week since I found a lump in my breast, I wouldn't be as worried if I didn't have a history of cancer before (melanoma stage 3)  I immediately went to the doctors who said it's around 3cm and am waiting to get my appointment for the breast clinic. Up to 2 weeks for a letter feels like a long time even tho I know it's normal. And I just needed to vent its difficult keeping things to yourself because you don't want to worry anyone. Is it normal to be very worried? What should I expect? I've been told nothing except a quick referral to breast clinic.

    Hi chloe I too found a lump last week and am going to the breast clinic on Saturday for an ultrasound. I've not had cancer but I have had stage 3 VIN and that was a walk in the park compared to this. I think some people worry more than others, me being 1 of them! I've not been to work since finding it due to constant outbursts of tears and panic attacks. 
     

    from what my sister in law tells me (she's been 3 time's) they will scan you and be able to give you an idea of what they think it is and probably give you a biopsy to make 100% sure. Then it's another wait for results I'm afraid.

    Thank you for writing back it's really helpful to know I'm not alone in my emotional reaction to this, I've been overwhelmed at work with worry and emotion that I think they must all think I'm bonkers . Good luck with your appointment from what I've read 80% of lumps are benign so fingers crossed we're both in that 80% xxx

    Hello,

    the clinic is a well oiled machine, but can be quite boring with all the waiting, so if possible try and take someone with you.

    I will tell you about my experience.....firstly I saw the consultant who had a good feel and drew where the lump was, next it was straight off for the mammogram ( I had 5 in total) then I had an ultrasound....then I was booked to in a week later for a core biopsy.....

    The consultant may or may not be able to tell you the findings, as realistically they really won't know for sure until the biopsy results....

    Thank you so much for replying I really appreciate it I've decided to bring my mum rather than go on my own and bring a good book with me now, I finally got my appointment it's on Wednesday, I will let you know how it goes I feel better just knowing I've got an appointment it's the waiting I find hard I need the closure lol x thank you again I think it's really lovely to see strangers supporting strangers nice to know if it does come back bad I have a nice group of people to share with xx

    My appointment at the breast clinic is tomorrow and I don't want to go sleep as it'll bring the results sooner. My boob now feels a bag of dolly mixture!!

    I got the all clear!! Nodules of normal breast tissue which has just made me feel so good. 
     

    good luck to all those still waiting for answers and those in treatment. I honestly think you are the bravest people in the world xx
