Lump on the back of my neck

I recently discovered a hard small lump that doesn't move at the back of my neck towards the left on the hairline. I don't believe it's anything sinister, but I am an extreme worrier about any sort of lump I find on my body. It doesn't cause any pain and it's only noticeable if you feel for it. I'm going to see my doctor next week. I'm just curious if anyone else has had something similar. Would really help me out as I've been worrying about it all day and have also been googling it which doesn't help.

    Hi, yes I have something very similar (if you view my profile should be able to see my post), a hard lump on back of my neck, very hard, doesn't move, not painful.. all the bad signs, I've felt sick with worry. I went to my GP, he booked me to go back in 3 weeks unless it's gone.. it was still there so 2 weeks referral to hospital and go in this Friday to have the tests. 

    I'm not sure I'm any help, but here to chat if you need to as someone in a similar situation, let us know how you get on x

    Hi try not to worry we get bumps on us all the time .the countrys getting paranoid about cancer we are bombarded with it on tv i dont think we can watch tv for half an hour without cancer being mentioned years ago we wouldnt be worried we would just thing it was a cyst or something if its worrying you best get it checked out .we arnt drs so its only laymans oppinions but i think on here theres a lot have expierance .yes if  filyou cant filter google leave it or you will just get more and more anxious .maybe just make appointment with nurse at the surgery if you cant get in to see gp .paul

    I'm in a similar situation, I've had this pea sized lump on the size of my neck which luckily is soft but I'm so scared I've had it for 6 weeks let me know how you get on.

    Hi

    I have just posted pretty much the exact same thing. Small hard non moveable lump in my hair line - I actually think it's an occipital lymph node. See my post if you want more details 

    I'm booked for an US this Thursday. 
    Worried sick is an understatement as I've had it for a couple of months (although it hasn't grown)

    It's so bizarre I went to the doctors and they said they think it's a swollen lymph node but it has been there almost 7 weeks... I mean the only thing reassuring me is that it is under 1cm and is soft like it moves with the skin but I'm very similar to you I'm driving my boyfriend mad and I have become obsessed with it constantly looking in the mirror for any changes. I'm meant to be moving to Canada in feb so I am absolutely bricking it. I'm only 24 so the thought of being sick is taking over my life.. literally! I'm scared to drink alcohol in case it hurts.

    I know what you mean! I'm driving myself crazy let alone everyone else ‍♀️
     

    My lump is also small and is >1cm but I just find it odd it's been there a long while.

    Yeah fingers crossed, keep me updated because I think I'm a little bit further away from where you are right now, I've not been referred just yet.

    UPDATE!!

    Turns out the lump was caused by a bloody and scabby spot I had on my hairline which was next to it. Since the scabby spot has recently gotten better, the lump has almost disappeared.
