My brother has a raised PSA and enlarged prostate. He had his scan and biopsy a few weeks ago and the result appointment has come through for approx 8 weeks time. This seems such a long agonising wait. Is this the norm?

Hi private FD, high it does seem like a long wait, with my biopsy i, was told straight away by the nurse who did the biopsy but i know they were certain what it was, it should only be a few weeks, but it can depend on how busy they are, best wishes.. Billy
Hi PrivateFD. Welcome to the forum.
This wait seems anything but normal. My appointment to get the results was less than 2 weeks after the biopsy. Eight weeks seem far too long, especially if the biopsy was actually a few weeks ago, making the total wait 2-3 months.
I think I would see my GP to discuss the situation. GPs often have early access to results via the computer. I had a CT scan a few months ago, and my GP gave me a copy of the results before I heard from the hospital. But further, the GP does need to know if patients are being kept on the hook for such a long time, and may be able to pull some strings to get the appointment moved forward.
