Strange Masses, Possible epididymitis.

Hello, I’m nearly 16 years old, with Crohn’s diseas, and I’ve found something very strange in my testicles since puberty. It feels almost like veins, but this could just be the part above the testicles; the epidermis, but it feels stretchy and veiny. There are also hard lumps, like sacs, above and below both testicles. Also, my left teste feels firm and sometimes gets a little achy pain, it can be quite tender if I am a bit rough when examining it.

i have Crohn’s disease so could this be a hernia or inflammation. I’m worried this could be testicular torsion. If so I’ve had this for ages and the testicle would b pretty much dead at this point.

thank you

  • Hi there. Welcome to the forum.

I'm not a doctor and I have no medical qualifications. I do, however, have similar plumbing to you and about 40 extra years!

A torsion is incredibly painful - you'd be in no doubt if that's what you had!

The lumps and bumps you're feeling might be part of the epididymis but you'd need to see a doctor to confirm that. Because of your age, it's very unlikely to be cancer, particularly if you've had these for some years, but it is always best to get these things properly checked out by a doctor.  Most lumps and bumps in and around the testicles are nothing serious.  It's probably nothing to worry about, but your doctor won't mind examining you and putting your mind at rest.

  • Ok thank you so much, that has definitely put my mind at peace. The sac things are not on my testicles, more above and below it and the veiny thing feels like it’s kind of detached from my testicle if any of that helps. Also I was quite concerned about her my testicle has suddenly got quite firm, is that bad?

  • I'm not a doctor and I think I've said as much as I can. If you're worried, or if there is any pain, then you should see your doctor.  Pain can be an indication that you need antibiotics, but only a doctor can tell.

  • Hey man, I'm 19 and I noticed the exact same thing happen that you're describing to me a few months ago. It almost appeared out of no where. One minute everything was compact and then I noticed it and it looked and feels separated. I don't suppose you have anymore information about it or know what it is? I would go to the doctor but with the pandemic it's not the best time.

It's also interesting you mention that you have Crohn's disease... my father has that and I believe I do too. I have not been diagnosed yet however, I have suffered many of the same symptoms and since it's a genetic thing there are high chances of me having it. I wonder if this is linked to Crohn's?

    Cheers

  • I also have what your describing I seem to have a sac above the epidermis with a veiny like cord coming off it. I've heard if a light is shined on it and the light passes through its fluid filled but if it doesn't and the area doesn't glow it's a hard mass

if any of you guys know of anything about it because it's been a while...
