Hi everyone
So at the moment I have been having examinations and things for a lump that I felt in my left breast a few weeks ago. My gp wasn’t too concerned as she said it was small, smooth and moveable but referred me to the breast clinic to be checked. At the clinic the consultant said it felt harmless and when I had the ultrasound they suspected a Fibroadenoma but did an FNA to make sure.
Anyway on Wednesday I had an appointment to get my results. For the last week or 2 I feel like I have just put my life on hold as I just felt too down to do anything and I just kept saying I will start getting back to normal after my results on Wednesday. However when I went to my appointment on Wednesday they were still unsure about the results from the FNA, they said they are not showing anything too concerning regarding cancer but not the typical results they would expect from a Fibroadenoma, kind of in the middle. So they want me to have the lump removed to be tested properly but the doctor was stressing that he didn’t want me to be worried as he was almost certain it was nothing to be concerned about. I felt a little relieved but then stupidly went home and Googled and found a similar story but the girl ended up having cancer so I have convinced myself I’m going to have breast cancer and it will probably have spread etc ( I always tend to think the worst).
So the last couple of days I have just felt so down and don’t know how to cope. I thought after Wednesday I would know what was wrong but I’m just waiting again. I feel like I have no interest in going out or working or doing anything fun with my children and just so unhappy, my stomach feels in knots and my heart just constantly feels like it’s racing. I know I shouldn’t worry until I know but I just can’t get this horrible feeling to go away. How do you all cope with the worry and is it normal that I should be feeling this down and sad ?
