Hello,
I had a sigmoidoscopy which a precancerous polyp was found and removed and therefore my consultant now wants me to have a full colonoscopy.
I found the whole experience very painfull and terrifying! Unfortunately due to the loops and bends in my narrow long bowel a colonoscopy was unsuccessful and she had to stop.
Now my consultant has suggested I have the profonol sedation and we attempt again I really am uneasy about sedation I don't want it and hate the idea of being out of it with so many risks. Also the fact that my bowels are so tight there is more risk of perforation, so why do the procedure this way.
Has anyone had this procedure before with this drug and is there anything I should know about it. My symptoms are all over the place. I have mucus in my poo everyday and abdominal pain upper left side and more recently a pain in my lower back buttocks area. Therefore my consultant thinks that it may not even be my bowel. So why don't they just do a MRI first and try to find the problem?
If anyone has experienced this process of diagnosis please let me know how you went about it.
Thanks
