Biopsy results

Hi, I’m a little nervous about posting again as last time I had no response & I’m starting to feel I have no one to talk to?

i will start with a little history, my husband has had Barrett’s for around 12 yrs now and on his last endoscopy & biopsy in July 19,  the results came back abnormal and he was referred to the hospital for more biopsies? We was told it was classed as urgent, but after 5 weeks were still waiting for an appointment, I finally after 3 days of endless phone calls got through to the secretary of the consultant who is taking over my husbands care to find out they had already had a meeting about my husbands first biopsies & all agreed on what they suspected but wanted further biopsies to confirm this & it was to be carried out within 3 weeks of that meeting, but somehow this wasn’t signed off & he was forgotten about? The secretary was so apologetic & said this will now be a top priority & we should get a call tomorrow with an appointment for the biopsy? As you can imagine we have both been going out of our minds with worry especially as cancer is very high in my husbands family, my question is for anyone who could advise?because they were supposed to rush this biopsy but forgot, could this mean we could get the results or at least answers of what we could be facing on the same day as the biopsy or would we still have to wait weeks until we get the results? We feel like our lives have just stopped still in time while we are waiting?

pls any advise possible would be welcome to ease our worries

    Welcome to this forum, the one no-one wants to join for obvious reasons but are glad they did for the help and support they get from everyone here.  I, too, have Barrett's (and have had endometrial and lung cancer - greedy or what?) and am under hospitals in London.  You must both be so worried, angry and frustrated about what's (not) happened, but you've started the ball rolling (again) and hopefully, you'll hear something tomorrow.  I had an endoscopy a few weeks ago and was told the result there and then and given a report (my Barrett's was still there but no worse and under control, I'm very pleased to say).  My advice would be to wait until tomorrow lunchtime and if you haven't heard anything by then, give the secretary a phone call again.  Try to get her direct number and name should you need it in future for anything.  During my time with cancer, I've had various platitudes said to me from "try not to worry" (you can't think of anything else) to "don't even think about it (!!!).  I won't say anything along these lines as I know it won't help at all but, remember, you aren't alone and unfortunately there are lots of us on here who know exactly what you're both going through.  Good luck for tomorrow and do let us know how you get on.

    thank you for the reply, I’m sorry for what you are going through, I hate cancer, we lost my sister in law ( my husbands sister) to this a few yrs back now, by the time they found it, it was too late & we only got a further 7 months with her, but I think this is why we are so scared with what they have found with my husband? They said with the next biopsy they have to go down further? It’s the avoiding of our questions that are eating away at us, every time my husband asks if he should be worried, they change the subject or say let’s get the tests done first & go from there? It doesn’t give us much hope that it’s not much to worry about? I know why they are not allowed to tell us what their suspicions are, but they must understand how much stress this causes having to wait? I’m praying they can give us the results of the biopsy the same day so we know where we go from there? I’m so fed up with family saying “well they haven’t got him in yet, so it can’t be anything to worry about” yet it turns out it was the hospitals mistake & he should have been called in weeks ago? I’m so scared, I’m a full time carer to my f.i.l who has dementia, cancer & cerebral vascular disease (strokes) & I’m already selfishly thinking how the hell will I cope looking after both & we don’t even know the results yet?

    Don't know if i was on forum last time you came on, i only came on around last Xmas, if i notice i try to help to find others to talk to, I'm uncurable, prostate, gone to lymph nodes, spine, ribs, pelvis and a lung, i have cemo now and again to try to keep it down, i call it my uninvited guest,,, hope others will join you this time round, if they don't leave a message and I'll have a look around for you.     Hi Zoelou. Welcome to the forum. I just wanted to say good luck at the hospital and I hope that all is better than expected. I know how you feel having to wait all the time and having a sick husband. Unfortunately mine lost his battle 19 years ago when he was only 31, with a 5 year old son. Our son is 24 now and getting on great. Good luck to you and your family X
