Concerned - blood clots in stool, fatigue, abdominal pain

Hello everyone.

I'm just looking for advice really. I've been bleeding when I 'poo' for around 6 months now. I haven't sought medical advice as I put it down to piles and tried to adjust my diet and take over the counter medication.

However, over the last 6 weeks or so, I have heavy clotting with every poo. The toilet bowel ends up dark red and the toilet paper is covered below thick clots of dark blood. Additionally, I am constantly faitugued to the point that it affecting my ability to work, suffer abdominal pain and cramps and feel like I am unable to completely empty my bowels.

My GP tried to take a look but because I was so tense, she couldn't get in (of you get what I mean - very embarrassing). Anyway, she's sent me for blood tests next week but my family seem to be really worried. Should I be?

  • Hey Sarah. Any update .I too am having bright red bleeding for over a month now.

  • Any update on your situation  please

  • Hi Kerina. It's been over 15 weeks since I had my colonoscopy and operation (last min decision with the consultant) to have a haemorrhoids removed as they were very inflamed. Colonoscopy came back all clear but the bleeding and other symptoms are still here. I still struggle with my loo visits all be it less visits than before and in not the same amount of pain but non the less the issues are still there. I'm now waiting on a follow up appointment with the consultant to see what next. Let's see! How are you getting on? Have been to see gp/dr about your case? If not please do....

take care and stay safe. Sara x

  • Hi All

This is the first group where I finally feel like I'm not alone. I have the exact same issues as justmegirl plus I've also had perinal abscess and had to have a seton fitted a few years ago which was a nightmare within itself. The frustration is not being given any confirmed information everything the doctors tell me just seems very wishy washy when the symptoms are severe and happening daily affecting everything I do. Please keep up the group with all outcomes and feedback I will be watching...I'm still being investigated but IBD seems to be the diagnosis so far. Good luck to you all. X

  • Have the same problem so I also want to know is it serious

  • Hello, for me I think all of my symptoms were linked to a mix of medication I was taking, particular pain medicines like morphine and tramadol. I would always speak to a doctor though, as a symptom you may share with someone might not always be related to the same problem. I hope you are well soon x

  • Hi,

I have these symptoms, they started 2 years ago after I had my daughter. I have had two periods of about 2 months where the symptoms have eased but for the last 6-7 months it has been consistant now. I feel like something is going to pop inside aswel when i go to the toilet (hard to describe where exactly without showing).

I have had a colonoscopy over a year ago and found nothing. They gave me two differnt types of creams, and a botox injection. None have helped. I am on the waiting list again for a colonoscopy. I was told I had a fistula when it first started happening.

recently things have changed and i notified my consultant as advised to do. he has gvien me an appointment for nearly 2 months time which is a bit concerning.

Over the last 3-4 months i have felt extremely fatigued, dizzy, nauseous, disorientated and forgetful. The fatigue is awful, stops me from working sometimes and doing day to day things at home. I have been to the GP about this and so far noone has put the all the symptoms together but im wondering if they are all related? I have had blood work done in Jan of this year which showed a very low vit D count, I have taken the vit D supplements as prescribed and continued taken over the counter ones but feel no better so I have just has more bloods done today to see if anything has changed.

I don't know what to do.. as i feel like I am being a nuisance and feel bad if I went to a&e with it allx but i feel like im being fobbed off a bit with things like 'mood issues' and have to see how you get on and process of elimination.

    what should i do?

  • Hi

I'm so sorry to hear of your problems. I've been in a dreadful state over the last 4 weeks.

A combination of many problems. The initial one has been identified as a kidney cyst causing pain and bleeding from the urinary tract. Then bleeding from the rectum started, not just a bit cupfuls which I was really alarmed at. The pain has been unbearable but I've been told I dont have a temperature so am alright@@@!!! REALLY.....this has been the response from my Dr surgery A and E and a paramedic!!!!!! I'm desperate and now full of painkillers so can hardly function. Due an urgent colonoscopy this week.

I really suggest you put yourself first and push for action and anyone else reading this.....dont wait for longer than a couple weeks get an urgent referral!!!!

It has been a great help reading these posts and I wish you all well. Take care.
