Testicular Lumps

Read a few things on here when I googled about lumps.

I've had a small pea sized lump on the right testicle for months but reading about benign cysts and having no pain or aching or redness or discomfort I just ignored it.

It now appears that I have one on each testicle with the tube on the right one painful to touch.

I'm not a worrier but is it normal to suddenly have another? I don't think the one on the right has changed size but it's definitely painful to touch and gives that tummy ache feeling.

I read it could be an sti maybe and not the other thing?

Obviously, I'll book an appointment in the morning (its 4.30am I'm on night shift) but has anyone else had similar symptoms?

  • Hello HealthyDad and welcome to our forum,

You are doing the right thing to book a doctor's appointment as they will be in the best position to tell you what these lumps are. Do mention that you've recently developed this other lump and make sure you also get the other one looked at too. I hope you will meet others here who have had similar symptoms.

Hopefully by now you will have managed to get an appointment and got some answers.

    Keeping everything crossed for you,

  • Hi HealthyDad. Welcome to the forum.

I am not a doctor and I'm not qualified to give a diagnosis.

My best (uninformed) guess is that the structures you've felt are probably something called the epididymis - there's one on each testicle.  I've had several episodes of epididymitis in the past, and it's needed antibiotic treatment. Due to the recurrent nature of these infections, I also had an ultrasound scan just over a year ago, and it was clear.

You're doing the right thing seeing the GP. You might get given a course of antibiotics, and/or you might get referred for an ultrasound scan of the naughty bits.

Please let us know how you get on.
