Back in 2018 I had a few things going on and started to feel tired and nauseous. I had a lot of pain in my abdomen. After repeatedly going to the gp over the space of 6 months they finally sent me for a ultrasound scan where a gallbladder polyp was found, size 4mm. I had this scan repeated 12 months later which it had grown another 2mm. Any growth that is 2mm in a year is classed as ok.

Covid happened and I didn't get the scan done in late 2020. It came to Feb 2021 and I started having severe pain and feeling more nauseous especially when I wake up. I was sent for an urgent scan which they had found the polyp had grown considerably and is now 11mm. This is now in the range for concern. The GP had not sent a referral in all this time to a specialist. It came to April when I was given excuses and the GP that I spoken to told me it needed to have been sent as urgent referral back in Feb 2021.

A few days after the referral was sent I had a call from the specialist and told I am on the urgent list to have my gallbladder out.

Try not to stress about it, a lot of people have these polyps and they usually behave if they don't as in my case, then it is dealt with. There is no point in worrying about something you can't change.

Anything over 10mm or growth of more than 2mm in a year then chase it up.

I will have the tissue check when my gallbladder is removed but I also know that percentage is on my side and in my favour, I'm a 36 year old female. Cross fingers all is well.

Hi, I know this is an old thread, but I'd like to know how you got on if ok?

I've had bad stomach issues for many many years, I'm currently 37. They checked everything other than my gallbladder for years. Well my symptoms worsened somewhat and ended up having it checked. I found out today I have several polyps in my gallbladder, one of which is 10mm.

I'm being referred as an urgent matter as my symptoms coincide with potential gallbladder failure, or the dreaded C. I'm worried as heck at the moment and I've tried to source someone on a forum like this who have had bigger ones and see if symptoms are similar.

My symptoms:

- Chronic fatigue 

- Pain between my shoulder blades 

- pain in my right side of abdomen 

- Bowl issues (very frequent with differing consistency per trip)

- nausea and high temp

- brain fog

Hi Louise I know this is late , I’m due to get my gallbladder out because of all these symptoms, did everything go ok? Has your symptoms gone?

Hi Chris, I know this is late but did anything come of it? I’ve recently been diagnosed with 3 polyps because of symptoms one is 6mm, 8mm and 10.4 mm and  a dilated CBD but my doc has not sent me for urgent referral and is not worried. How did you get on ?
