Referral to breast clinic in a different country

Hi all, I have been referred to a breast clinic after my doctor found a lump in my left breast during a routine examination. I live in the US for work so don’t know quite what to expect and whether it will be different from the UK and I don’t have friends or my mum here to go with me as I have in the past so am feeling a little anxious but trying to be sensible.

I am 39 years old and have been referred to breast clinics twice in the UK earlier in my 30s - the first time I had a mammogram and biopsy which were clear, the second time a mammogram which was clear.

Am trying to not get overly worrried and be calm but I think being in a new country has made it a bit more stressful.

  • Morning,

oh bless you, yes I can imagine being abroad adds to the stress! I have absolutely no experience of these things abroad but would like to imagine they follow a similar protocol to U.K.?

At least it will all be in English, I moved from Spain 2 years ago and can't imagine going through all this in another language.

i wonder if there are any Facebook pages you can join? I'm on a her2 pos Facebook group, its mostly Americans, its interesting comparing notes.

Let us know how it goes? Fingers crossed it's all ok xxx
