Hi all. I have been dismissed by many as just being a hypochondriac as I am known for having very bad anxiety and worrying obsessively over things, but I am still going to ask. I am a 20year old mixed race woman, and noticed 3 days ago a few lymph nodes on the right side of my neck were really swollen. There are about 5 ranging from a small grape (visible externally) to a small pea. The largest one is tender to touch. I have scared myself by looking at all sorts of things on the internet, but I do not have any of the symptoms that any of the websites claim to go alongside malignant lymph nodes ie night sweats, loss of weight, feeling full after little food etc, so my main worry lies within the fact that I have no symtpoms of illness. My brothers were both ill recently and I had a little sniffle/mild scratchy throat for a few days, but I just don't feel like a sniffle merits such large lymph nodes. Multiple sources say different things re the feel of these lymph nodes ; mine feel fairly firm, tender to touch and move about when I prod. I have read differing things on whether it's good or bad fo them to feel "rubbery" or "hard" but I am unsure as to what "rubbery" means. I have arranged a GP appointment for a week today, but my anxiety has kept me up about it and I know I will obsess over it for the whole week. The more I prod them, the more tender they are so I know I must stop, but I am so stressed! My grandma did not address her cancer early enough and is now sadly in the last stages of her life, and I think this has also had a really negative impact on the way I am viewing this situation.
Sorry for such a long message, and I am incredibly thankful for any words of advice that anyone may have!
