So on Monday I went for what I thought was a routine pelvic scan. Within an hour I received a call from my GP who was referring me to Gynae as I had cysts on both overies. Not concerned about the 3cm cyst on my right overy, but the one on my left was 7cm in her words “massive” so she was fast tracking a referral. I had my Gynae appointment yesterday (fri) hoping to be told I’ll just have operation to remove my overies as I don’t need them as had Hysterectomy 7 years ago. Then she mentioned that word? The Cyst has some solid matter and this was concerning. I’m only 43 premenopausal with no symptoms. So I was sent straight for CA125 CEA BHCG and another blood test I can’t remember. I have a CT scan of torso on Monday? She said to make sure no other masses anywhere else! But all my recent xrays and scans have been clear.
This has scared me to say the least. I can’t get it out of my head. My 3 children, my husband etc etc. Is this normal practice to go all out before surgery? I asked why not just whip them out and she said they needed to know what it may be first.
