Hi everyone, I’m hoping one of you kind people can calm me down !
I had a routine mammogram a couple of weeks ago. Yesterday morning I opened a letter asking me to go to the Breast Assessment Centre at 10 o’clock. It’s over an hours drive so I set off straight away - on my own .
I was seen straight away so had no time to worry, had another mammogram then an ultra sound with Radiologist who told me I had a small area of micrcalcifaction (which can sometimes be a sign of early cancer ) and a very small mass of some kind in the same area. She spent a long time looking and said there was no sign of anything in my lymph nodes - which was good.
I then had another more detailed mammogram, an X-ray, some core biopsies (3, I think ) and she left in 2 titanium markers. I then signed a consent form for a Mammophone Biopsy so that she could remove all the microcalcification . I was going to have it then, but when they came back in they asked if I could come back the next day at 12 instead - as I’d come on my own and they were worried about me driving myself home. They want someone to come with me. I couldn’t do today because of work and because I’d have to find someone to drive me.
I now have to wait a week because they had no other slots available and I am really worried.
I couldn’t get hold of them today .
Is it normal to be told you have to have someone with you for a mammophome biopsy and/or that you shouldn’t drive?
I’m also worrried that she left markers in - having spent so long looking.
Any information/ advice would be very welcome - there’s only much I can in this heat to keep busy !
Thanks
x
