Hopefully a chat with your Macmillan nurse will help but I'm sure our community will rally around to offer their support once they come across your post as well.

  • Hi Noonie64

Firstly can I say sorry you have had a diagnosis of cancer. You will be feeling pretty devastated.

I too have tongue and oral cancer.I had surgery in March this year.

If you want to chat we are always around.

I talked to my daughters before having the tests and I think it wasnt as much of a shock to them, but everyone handles things their own way.

    Take care xx

  • I will be having surgery 2nd September , partial toungue removal and lymph nodes from neck , all very scary and it's been a whirlwind few months , MRI showed no where r,she so that's a blessing.  Although lymph nodes will be double checked under the microscope , not looking forward to surgery , but know this is going to give me the best chance , hoping speech is not to disrupted ,but I'm positive and just please caught early x

  • Hi Noonie

The waiting is horrible, and you have a bit of a wait till September too.

I am sure you will do fine. Have confidence in your surgeon they do these ops often. You will be surprised how quickly you recover and feel better.

Good news about scan so fingers crossed node pathology comes back clear. Hopefully then you wont be looking at RT which is the worse of the two evils.

I found speech not too bad after about 10 days. Because my surgery took away a fairly wide area of oral tissue right back to the tonsil this cant be stitched so I was pretty hoarse for a time, but it did all heal well.

Keep yourself busy in the meantime it really helps.xx
