Hi I am new to the group
I was called in for a “nearly 50” mammogram a couple of weeks ago. Following that I was given an appointment at an out of town hospital for further investigation.
At that appointment I was told I’d have another mammogram to concentrate on a specific area and then maybe an ultrasound, a physical exam and worst case scenario a needle biopsy. I had all of them. I was told they were removing sugar grain sized calcifications.
When I went back for the results I was told I need a vacuum biopsy as the results were “abnormal”. I was so panicked I didn’t hear or understand anything the doctor said. She did say whatever it is is 13mm and I remember her saying IF it’s cancer we’ll talk about it then. And that I’ll be recalled within 7-10 days.
Now the panic is really setting in. I’m not a panicky person and nothing really frightens me. But I am frightened now!
What could it be other than cancer? If it’s 13mm why can’t I feel it? Why did they say tiny calcifications if it’s not?
Any advice would be most greatly appreciated
