Hello, 

If be questioning the consultant as ulcers and inflammation is more than IBS. With IBS you so NOT get inflammation, ulcers or bleeding.  

I say this as I have inflammatory bowel disease IBD ulcerative colitis and they are common with colitis and crowns disease. I end up going to the toilet around 5 plus times a day and when I am very bad I loose a lot of weight.  

Can I ask what other symptoms you get? 

Please get your consultant to look at the results again and if needed get a second opinion. 

I'm pleased it wasn't anything sinister but don't want you to suffer like I did.

I am waiting to see specialist, they referred me by 2ww because of my anemia and not sure why I'm always anemic, so now I'm worried! 

I feel so tired and drained, and they wont give me anything.  

I am really scared x

Anaemia is very common in people with IBD.

I am deficient in iron, folic acid and vitamin D.  When I'm really poorly I need potassium ,sulphate and glucose. 

I really do hope they sort you out. 

There is a Facebook support group for Crohns and colitis UK where you can get some amazing advice and an understanding for IBD and waiting for a diagnosis. It is a closed group so other than the people on the group No one can see your posts.

Believe me you do not get inflammation, bleefing and ulcers with IBS. I really think if they say its ibs then you need a second opinion. Have a look at Crohns and colitis UK and do a post on waiting for a diagnosis,  explain your symptoms and results and see what opinions that you get back. 

I like you was told for many years that mine was IBS until I lost that much weight where I was 9 1/2 stone and went to 7st 1lb in 2 weeks. I was then diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. 

See what your colonoscopy comes back as xx

Good luck lovely. I am so pleased that you got a good result and I hope you get the right diagnosis to get you on the right treatment. It's not nice being poorly and worried. 

Have they said why your platelets are high xx

Hi Hun, it is quite possibly Crohns.  I have this and always have high pletelets, low folate and ferratin (iron) and non existent vitamin D.  Blood tests dont always show up all the deficiencies because if you have crohns it is usually in the small bowel where you absorb food nutrients.  Also ask about a calprotection test, it is a stool sample which they test for white blood cells.  A reading of under 50 is normal, up to 150 is consistent with IBS and above this is signs of IBD.  Mine is usually running around 1,000.  

Hi thanks for replying back! I am exactly the same situation one Dr suspected Crohn’s or colitis then after my sigmoidoscopy another Dr said he’s not sure what he thinks & for me to wait for further results of colonoscopy & endoscopy( down throat) & also scan. 

I have had stomach pain for 4 years on & of. Since January the stomach pain is always there also have loose stools, I can open bowels up to 8 times a day with large amounts of blood & mucus. I always have a sense of fullness and bloated. My appetite is poor and lost around 1 stone. Drs put me on lazoprazol and folic acid for anima. Recently I had a new symptom a dull pain under right rib. I am honestly anxious especially seeing blood in stools everyday
