Breast issues

Hi, I’ve actually been on another part of this forum about my dad and his prostate cancer diagnosis but this is about me now. I had breast clinic 8 weeks ago due to skin changes in my left breast (nipple) crusting, itching and burning sensation. Consultant said he wasn’t overly concerned at the stage as mammogram didn’t show anything. But he wanted to follow up in 8 weeks time and if it wasn’t any better then he would do a punch biopsy. Has anyone had a biopsy like this, I’m worried as I have to drive myself to hospital and back will I be ok to do this? Has anyone else had similar and it turned out ok? Sorry I’m worried sick now

  • Hi Kaz-Girl,

I'm sorry about the breast issues you're currently dealing with whilst your dad is on his own cancer journey. I know this must be worrying but hopefully the symptoms you're experiencing are not an indication of anything sinister.

Hopefully some of our members who have had a punch biopsy will share their experiences with you soon but we have some information about this on our website just here if you'd like to read up on it.

I hope this helps but if you have any further questions you're more than welcome to give our cancer nurses a quick call on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi kaz,

i had a core biopsy on a breast lump and it was a breeze....I'm hoping a punch biopsy will be much the same.....I was able to go back to work when it was done, other than a slight pain for a few days after it really was nothing xx
