Suspected breast cancer

I found a lump in my breast a couple of weeks ago. My GP felt it, noting that I have cysts in my breasts (which I think always have), he was going to refer me to the breast clinic, but not to worry about it  Now I've got a letter through saying 'RAS 2WW Suspected Breast Cancer' and to say I'm freaking out is an understatement. I'm only 34 and I have a 1 year old. Does anyone have any advice please?

    Hi,

    Try not to worry too much right now - I read somewhere that most lumps in breast are benign.  Its a good thing they will investigate further and only through a biopsy can they tell you anything for sure.

    I found a lump last month, got a quick referral, scan and biopsy and didn't have to wait too long for results.

    Thank you, that's very reassuring. It's just the words 'suspected breast cancer' that have got me in a bit of a state. I do seem to have always had cysts, so fingers crossed it's just another one.
