7.5cm Complex Cyst?

Hi Everyone,

I have been doing a lot of reading through this forum and found it very helpful.

3 weeks ago I had an internal ultrasound due to extreme period pains, pains 3/4 weeks of the month and irregular bleeding and was put on the suspected cancer pathway. I was told the I had a 6cm 'lump' on my left ovary.

Since i have had my gynogology appointment which she told me it was actually 7.5 x 6.7 x 5.1cm and that it was complex and in my ovary rather than on. I have been referred for an MRI within the next 2 weeks and just had my CA125 and another blood test. I have been told then a Multidisciplary team will meet with my results and disuss a diganosis and treatment. I've been made aware that due to the size i will more than likely need an op.

I am currently working full time whilst in my last 5 weeks of university so its a lot to take on. I am concerned at the possibility of cancer but have a very open mind.

My quesion is what do people in regards to pain management? I haven't been given anything for the pain and paracetamol and ibprofen dont even touch it. Im forever attached to a hotwater bottle. Before we knew it was a 'lump' i was precribed tramadol! which made me very unwell and ended up taking a trip to A&E.

As im only 25 im also concerned about the possibility of loosing my ovary or even more btu again have an open mind on this.

Any advice would be appriciated.

Thanks :)

  • I had an ultrasound couple weeks ago and a partially solid cyst was found, very similar dimensions to yourself. I received a letter for a gynocology appointment before I even had the results of the scan so knew something was up! A few days later I had a letter asking me to go for bloods, Ca125 CEA and AFP so the results are ready for my appointment on Monday.

I don't have advice just wanted to share and say you definitely aren't alone! xx

  • How are you getting on now?

I was admitted into hospital over the weekend for pain management and im now on Codiene to help with the pain.

They also found that  now have another small cyst on my right ovary which may be contributing to the pain.

I have an appointment for 10th June to dicuss surgery (cystectomy). Unsure on any further details at the moment. Just ready for it to be over!

    xx

  • I met with the gynocologist last week and I've to have surgery sometime in the next 11 weeks. She said my bloods were reassuring though. Sorry to hear you are in alot of pain. Have you been given your blood results?
