Health anxiety and worried

hi everyone I am a 25 yo male about a month a go I noticed like 3 tiny flesh colored hard lumps beside my left tonsil and my tonsil was a tiny bit swollen I went to my local a and e who said tonsillitis and game me antibiotics I used the course but the lumps haven’t gone away they maybe have gone down a tiny bit. Anyway I went to see my own doctors after and he said it doesn’t look anything bad to worry about but come back in two weeks as he knows I suffer with bad health aniexty so I did and is still the same. He still saying it doesn’t look like anything worrying but sent me to ent for my peace of mind I have my appointment on Thursday but can’t stop worrying. Thanks for reading

    This is a common scenario. The patient presents with a condition that the doctor thinks will settle down naturally; however the doctor senses the patient's anxiety and makes a referral "to set the patient's mind at rest".  But the patient becomes even more anxious because of the referral.  You aren't the first person to write here about this, and you won't be the last.

    I think you need to occupy your time until your appointment, so keep busy. Now is the time to do some of those jobs you've been putting off.  You might also find mindfulness and relaxation techniques helpful.  Here is a really helpful video that you might find useful: How to Medidate in a Moment.  If this helps, then maybe other mindfulness and meditation videos will help, too. 

     

  • Hi thanks for the reply just so annoying just wish I could live my life without the constant worry. The doctors said it looks like nothing serious but I still can believe him :( I will try to keep busy I have 3 12 hour shifts at work so That should pass the time quick
