Worried about aches in lower body

I'm worried about some aches in the lower part of my body. I had a bit of an ache in my lower back and kidney area about three weeks ago which I went to see the doctor about. I thought it might be a urinary infection but they did a urine test and couldn't find anything. They said it might just be some back pain and to come back if it didn't get any better. I gave it about a week and went back. The back pain seems to have largely disappeared but there now seems to be an occasional dull, heavy ache in the testicles area. It's not noticeable when I'm lying or sitting down, just when I stand up. Therefore, it seems fine in the morning but then, after a while, when I've got out of bed it seems to come on. It's not constant either, it seems to come and go. The doctor has booked me in for a blood test and an ultrasound scan. I'm a bit worried. I know it could be lots of things but, being a bit of a health worrier, my mind automatically thinks about the worse case scenario. There's no discomfort with urination or anything and I can't feel anything in the testicles area that feels like a lump.

  • Hi stu1970. Welcome to the forum.

I've had something similar off and on for last 30 years.  Sometimes it's been a full blown infection (with the tongue twisting name of epididymitis) that has required antibiotics, and sometimes it's completely unexplained. Last year I had blood tests and an ultrasound scan which found nothing wrong.

I think some men have painful balls for no apparent reason.  If you have no other symptoms of testicular cancer then I wouldn't worry too much about the tests.

  • Hi when you're doctor's doing blood tests is there a psa test. It's probably not but just check,, I started with lower back pain to start with me and the doctor thaught I'd pulled my back it did go off after a few months. I'm not trying to worry you. But just check. Hopefully be false alarm best wishes.
