I can understand your fears, but don't assume that this is cancer.  Swollen tonsils and swollen neck glands are very common, but only rarely turn out to be cancer.  

Tell me about it. I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2010, since when I've had "urgent" referrals for bowel cancer, throat/tonsil cancer, and currently bladder/kidney cancer.   But statistically, only 1 in 10 urgent cancer referrals actually turn out to be cancer, so neither the bowel nor the throat/tonsil cancer referrals found anything nasty.  I'm hoping the same will be true for my current urological referral.

That's why I don't think you should assume you've got something nasty; you'll probably get the same battery of tests I had: endoscope up the nose, MRI, biopsy (mine was under general anaesthetic).  These tests went on for weeks, but they still found no cancer, although the wait was agonising. Fingers crossed it works out the same for you.
