HPV Vaccine

Hi there.

Just looking for a bit of advice....

Just over a year ago i was diagnosed with low grade dyskaryosis and hpv. This year i had my smear test repeated and they said it was normal and i didnt need to go back for 3 years.

Boots are now offering HPV vaccines from ages 15- 44. Would i be considered for this vaccine even though i have previously had HPV?

  • That's a very good question Becca but I think your doctor will be the best person to answer your question so do try and get in touch with them next week to see what they say.

I'm also going to give you our cancer nurses telephone number in case you wanted to have a quick chat with them about this when they return to work on Tuesday. Their lines will be open between 9a.m - 5p.m and can be contacted on 0808 800 4040.

I hope you're able to get some answers soon and wish you a lovely bank holiday weekend :)

    Kind regards,

  • Hi Beccablue.

I think it possible that you could have the vaccine despite the previous infection, but this is something you should discuss with the pharmacist at a branch of Boots where the injections are available.  You could probably phone up and ask, or just pop in (but try to choose a quiet period rather than a busy Saturday morning).  I'd be interested to hear what you find out so please let us know what you learn.
