I am scared I have pancreatic cancer

Where do I start, i am a 28 year old male I have recently quit smoking after having done so for 10 years, my diet has been very poor lots of takeaways fizzy drinks etc.

My concerns are as follows

Stattorhea malabsorbed food and yellow stool which may have gone on for 3-4  months the movement happens in the morning and comes with lower stomach pain my only this is my only movement each day

Itching mainly legs and recently diagnosed type 2 diabities

I have had blood tests which found the diabities which also showed a high reading for my liver. Which I have been suffering with slight pain to my right side over the months I have had a lot of lower back pain mainly when getting out of bed in the morning although this has gone in recent week. Also I have had a ongoing problem with indigestion which I was prescribed medicine for and did get rid of it.

I haven't had a loss of appetite until the last few days since coming across the symptoms for pc. I also appreciate it could be pancreatitis or maybe gallstones?

My gp has told me it's almost unheard of in my age and it really doesn't concern her but what else could it possibly be with all these relevant symptoms

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated thanks

Al

  • Hello Al,

Thank you for posting.  I can appreciate that it must be worrying for you if you don’t feel that your problems are being diagnosed properly.  Unfortunately, we cannot help you get a diagnosis.  Only a doctor can diagnose you.  If you are unhappy with the way you are being looked after by your current doctor you may want to consider getting a second opinion you can find out more about this here.

I hope you find the reassurance you need.

  • I just checked the pancreatic cancer incidence statistics by age and your GP is right. The incidence for people of your age is so small that it shows up as 0 per 100,000!  I think you can interpret that as a 1 in a million chance.  I think you can safely put that possibility out of your mind.

I think that instead of consulting Dr Google or asking us here (we aren't doctors), you need to go back to your GP and ask for a referral to a suitable consultant. This will probably be a non-urgent referral so you'll have to wait before you get the appointment, but at least you'll be on the waiting list.
