Hi there Yas.  Bearing in mind I am not a medic or an expert I think it unlikely on the information you have given.  I don't suppose you know what type of asbestos but as it was a limited exposure it should not be a problem.  Most asbestos problems are in people who dealt with asbestos repeatedly (by which I mean that most of their working years were dealing with asbestos every day) over a long period.  I dealt with asbestos in my job in public sector housing but it was not every day.  Most asbestos had been removed from council homes by the mid-1990s but during the preceding decade it was a regular occurence to come across asbestos of all types, damaged and undamaged.  I am retired now but still live in the same borough and as I am a member of the (currently) majority political party in my borough still keep up with everything that is happening.   I would just add that before I worked for the borough I had contracted pulmonary tuberculosis while living in India;  because of this I have occasional x-rays and if I had any problems relating to asbestos I would know of it - which I have not.    I do wonder how your boyfriend was in a house with a lot of asbestos without protection  - although I realise "a few years ago" means different things to different people!  I only mention it as building regulations are quite strict these days.  Best wishes. Hi I don't think you have any thing to worry about. When I was 16 my father was building a garage he put up a metal frame and he had some aspestos sheets he got. Me to cut them to size for him I used a big grinder I was covered in Acloud all the time for two days. My father moved out of the way I didn't know why at the time it did not affect me that was over 50years ago. Don't worry to much.

You've already received two reassuring messages so I don't need to add a third.  However I will add one caveat: Smoking and asbestos are a lethal combination. So if either you or your boyfriend are smokers, it might be wise to either give up, or switch to vaping.
