Psa reading 7.6..(within 2 weeks)to Urology Dept for Biopsy?

Hello everyone and my best wishes to all.

I am male ,65 years old.

Long story short. I saw my GP..told her I had vague pain round my core..I had lost weight (6 Ilb)..couldnt pee properly and that was becoming a nuisance..

I had blood tests...all good except elevated PSA reading of 7.6..two years ago was below 3 I believe.?

Next step (within 2 weeks) was I am to attend Urology dept for which looks like I will have biopsies.

Since then a few things have occurred or things I have thought about to make me think it is a bit of a rush, without having another blood test.?

1: I stopped drinking alcohol and stopped drinking coffee..within three days my pee is normal...no sudden urges..and a good flow...I am amazed actually.

2: the psa test was taken following two days heavy excercise..7 mile hike.. and 5 mile fast walk...I read that heavy excercise can increase PSA for up to 36/48 hours..

3: I have no real answer for the pain around my core except that I have had three hernia repairs & I still do sometimes very heavy lifting as part of my work..it doesnt seem to be getting worse and if anything has improved.

4: The weight loss, I now think was because I did have a temperature for a few days and maybe ...not sure..had a UT infection or similar..now I am eating well and have a great appetite. My weight loss has stopped.

Can anyone voice an opinion as to why I shouldnt/should ask for a 2nd PSA test before going in for a string of possibly not needed further physical tests/biopsies etc etc..
