  • Hi Gradygirl and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry about the troubles this lump has given you recently but hopefully your appointment with the trauma and orthopeadic surgeon will be able to give you the answers you've been seeking.

I'm sure some of our members who have seen a trauma and orthopeadic surgeon will share their experiences with you soon but our cancer nurses are just a phone call away if you'd like to chat with them as well. They are available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Wishing you all the best for your appointment when the time comes Gradygirl.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi

I have something similar, just wondering what it was in the end?

I have my ultrasound next week

    Thanks

  • I too have a definite quite large lump in the inside of the inner elbow. I only noticed it yesterday but are concerned that it may be cancerous. The lump seems to have got larger since yesterday.   I can't see my GP as we only get to have a telephone consultation.  I will contact the doctors to see what they say but I feel like I have been fobbed off when I have other conditions which has been discussed with the GP.  I have a few chronic conditions.  What do you think?

  • Hi Gradygirl.  Welcome to the forum.

I'm not a doctor and I have no medical qualifications.

I had a couple of lumps removed from my upper arm way back in 2000.  They gave the lumps a long Latin name which I immediately forgot.  The scars have long faded.

Fat lumps are pretty common, and they're usually left untreated unless they start to affect your everyday life, in which case surgery is the usual option.  This would appear to be the situation in your case.  From what you've written, there's nothing to suggest anything sinister going on - simply that the consultant has decided it's best to remove the lump now, and passed your notes on to a surgeon who will actually do the job.

The length of the appointment may be so that they can do a pre-op assessment while you're there. Or it could simply be standard text that they put on every appointment letter.  For one appointment I was told to set aside up to 4 hours, but I was actually in and out within 30 minutes!

Of course, none of this will stop you worrying before the actual appointment - that is inevitable and it's something that everyone here can sympathise with.

Please let us know how you get on.  Your feedback helps us to improve our future answers.

  • Thank you everyone still none the wiser lump is getting bigger an now affecting my arm have to go back just waiting for another appointment

Thank you for all your reply's you did put my mind at ease

  • Hello

Just wondering how you got on ? i have a lump just above my elbow that GP didnt know what it was so referred me to Orthopaedics. i get an MRi tomorrow but wehn at ortho he thought it was a lipoma. But my arm is very swollen and i cant use it so he doenst think the lipoma would cause that. Its my left arm and im left handed, its really impacting my life, im sooo worried

  • Hi I'm still having trouble with the lump it's got bigger but another scan has revealed varicose veins in my arm and chronic cellulitis I have been referred back to trauma and orthopaedic so will see what they say but now have a big lump on side of my leg an several lumps in my stomach like marbles so will see how I get on at hospital when I finally get an appointment arm is very painful can't use it properly but will see what happens will keep you all informed

    Thank you Gradygirl

  • Hi Gradygirl I hope you don't mind me following your posts, I am interested to see how it goes for you, I have a lump on the inside of my arm just above my elbow but I have just been for another surgery(knee replacement) and won't be getting around to doing anything about it for a while but obviously I'm worried about it, it is a bit tender too, I had it a few weeks ago and it just went away. I hope all goes well for you.

  • Hi well latest is I had a scan last Sunday an they say it's a lipoma a fat lump but I also have varicose veins and chronic cellulitis.
I spoke with a Gp who just sort of mumbled and didn't say a lot so I saw my Gp and ask what can be done he said you don't really want to go on low dose steroids as you will become used to them an when you are ill an need them they won't work everything else is cosmetic so nothing has changed I've still got the lump it got bigger it hurts and is affecting the top of my arm now so I have found a dr that will give me injection that will dissolve the fat lump the whole area for five treatments is 5,000 so saving up now hope everyone else gets sorted

  • I also have one on my leg now along side a bakers cysti have an appointment in April to see my lupus dr I'm going to mention them both to him I'll keep you all posted xx
