Breast Pain

Hi, since before Christmas I have been having an uncomfortable feeling in my left breast. The way I'd describe it would be a heavy feeling. Ive been to the doctors twice since New year now and had 2 physical examinations and he cannot feel anything unusal or any lumps. Ive been feeling pretty tired lately too. Ive mentioned this to my doctor too and am waiting for some blood test results back. He has given me some ibuprofen gel and has told me to change my bra to a support bra. Im honestly worried sick, its on my mind constantly. Its draining me. The doctor isnt concerned and has said he cant refer me for a scan with no lump and to see how I am in 3 months time. Im worried sick.

  • Dear Amy, just wanted to say that I recently went to the doctor's to check out the pain I have been having in my right breast, which is something in my rib cage, lower breast, side of breat, upper qudrant, armpit, you name it. I was relieved when they told me that things look fine from both mammo and ultrasound. My doctor was also quite disinterested in breast pain as a symptom to cancer. Hope this helps and I urge you to make an appointment to get it checked out if you are worried. Genuinely. As it really put your mind at ease and stress is not good for both mind and body. Big hugs.

  • Thank you for your quick reply! I've had the same with my doctor and been to the breast clinic and they said the same, I'm going to ask for an ultrasound just to be sure. Thanks so much xx

  • Did you get any further answers? I'm in similar situation to you, other than I did feel a lump. Seen Dr and breast specialist and had scan all say just lumpy breast tissue and nothing sinister, but the pain continues just in left breast.

Waiting for a telephone app with GP (soonest they could offer was 2 weeks away). Just sick of feeling so worried and also the pain.

hope you're feeling better now x

  • That's what they've said to me also, my pain has started going under my arm and to my back so they think it could be musculoskeletal and touching a nerve too. Seeing the physiotherapist next week for an assessment. Hope you get yours sorted too x

  • Exactly same, my pain is in my shoulder and ribs. Makes you frightened especially when you google which is my worst habit. I haven't been offered physio, but I'm going to a private physio tonight so fingers crossed. Hope you get sorted and thank you for replying xxx

  • Any updates?

ive had a sensitive nipple for about 3 months I wouldn't describe it as painful just a bit tingly, no lumps no other symptoms but I'm driving myself crazy with google searches I also keep touching it to see if it hurts. It's worse if I don't wear a bra as it rubs against my clothes. I first experienced it after wearing a pyjama top that had a rough inside but surely it can't still be irritated after 3 months. I'm terrified to go to the drs. It also feels quite heavy but I'm not sure if that's in my head

  • I'd definitely go to the doctors, and if they don't give you a good enough answer then get a second opinion. As crazy as it sounds I've bought some non wired bras and tried slightly bigger and different style to what I usually have and I can't believe it but my pain has subsided so much, I'm booked in for physio this week and he thinks he can help and diagnose the real problem, needless to say they don't think it's anything to worry about, if all this time it's been a case of bad fitting bras then well, I'll be shocked, especially as I get measured regularly!

  • Hi

I've only just joined this chat.

Reading these chats sounds so much like me. I have been going back and forth the doctors and hospitals for 18months with ongoing symptoms. I've had pains in my breast, and armpits, green dishcharge from a reoccurring spot on my nipple. But I've had all the tests going but nobody can find anything wrong.  It's so worrying I'm in pain everyday it doesn't go away. I just don't know what the next step is... any advice or guidance would be very much appreciated.

  • Hi. I am feeling exactly the same. Had my second baby in November. For 6 months I've had pain in my left breast. It literally only takes a tap and it hurts. It itches and I feel the skin at the top of my breast is so so sore like a sunburn type of pain. I've been to the breast clinic twice. I had a lump in my armpit same side which turned out to be a cyst and then also had discharge from same breast and nipple. Ultrasound found nothing but they did not ultrasound the full breast. Been applying cream for area but nothing helping. I am a nurse so my mind has gone into overdrive where I am now experiencing other symptoms and linking it altogether! It's awful, the stress and worry. My shoulder is quite sore too. Not sure if this is from lifting a pram in and out of the car most day. Just so stressed, sick of worrying, sending love to anyone experiencing this and who have had a diagnosis
