Sicknote given after breast screening - any ideas why?

Hi I had a mammogram,ultrasound and biopsy yesterday after finding a lump,results next Thursday. I was introduced to a breast nurse Louisa who is lovely she gave me her card,but she also gave me a sicknote for four weeks. Why do you think she did that,initially it was for 2 then she said I will give you four. I never asked why as I was in shock,minds gone into overdrive.

    Hello, I would also wonder why! My nurse was lovely....gave me a folder full of info...but no sick note....perhaps this is protocol in you area? ( mind you, I could do with the sick notes now) 

    If you find yourself stressing too much, perhaps give her a call? She can put you mind at rest......this whole process is so worrying, our imaginations run riot and go to dark places.....this forum has been a god send to me.....xxxx

    Hi Marlyn, when the doctor examined me he said it was more than likely a cyst,the ultra sound confirmed a smallish lump. I had biopsy on lump and lymph node getting results on A week Thursday. I went to pieces as my daughter is expecting my first grandchild in 4 weeks I need to be there for her. I thought 4 weeks was a bit extreme but was in shock and didn’t question it,I am too scared to phone nurse.

    Try not to think too deeply...it may well be the norm for your region..... it isn't cancer until you get the diagnosis. And if it does turn out to be cancer there are loads and loads of us on this forum who are fighting it and doing ok, it's not the death sentence it was years ago....and ( all being well) if it's benign.....well then....you have worried your socks off over nothing....so, deep breaths lady....big girl pants on....you got this....xxx
