Had my biopsy

Hi guys..so I had my biopsy yesterday on the sole of my foot..I have what they call a skin tumour but a kind the consultants haven’t seen before so had to have pictures taken of it etc..procedure was unpleasant as they couldn’t do a punch biopsy as it was a big..mushroom if u like..bled a lot during the procedure but nurses was fantastic as was the consultant..need to big them up really they made me feel comfortable as I was nervous and that needle was so painful as my foot is all swollen and tender and the tumour bleeds a lot so I was told the needle would hurt but they made me comfortable..they have fast tracked my results and put me down as urgent so I’m slightly scared..not sure how much they cut off but I’m told either way if I have cancer or not I’ve got to have an operation on my foot..the waiting is the worst though..gives you too much time to think doesn’t it..bloody nervous not going to lie..but I know some of you guys have it a lot worse so I’m not going to moan about it as you guys are so brave and so resilient it’s unreal..keep fighting guys and beat this horrid horrid disease xx

  • Hi Dave23486,

Poor you I have read your previous posts about this mushroom-like growth that has caused you so much trouble recently and I really hope things get moving for you soon and that you can have an operation soon on your foot to remove this. I am glad the nurses and consultant were great and that your results have been fast tracked and you will be treated as an urgent case.

As you say, the waiting is often described here as the worst thing it can truly send your mind into overdrive with the same thoughts replaying in your head. It is normal to be nervous Dave and I hope you can have this operation sorted quickly and that this mushroom type growth as you wittily call it can be exterminated.

You are very brave yourself Dave and have been putting up with this for so long that I hope this is sorted for you very soon. We're all here for you anytime you need to talk.

Do keep us updated on how things go for you. I hope you are not in too much pain and wish you the best of luck for your operation. Are you managing to walk ok?

I thought I would also let you know we also have a nurse helpline 0808 800 4040 - it's a free number you can ring Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm if you have any questions for them prior to your operation.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Dave,

Sorry, I've missed your previous posts, just done a quick catch-up and sounds horrible what you've been going through.

Like you say, the waiting is the worst but hopefully they'll get the results to you soon.  While an operation on the foot can be immobilising (only for a while I presume) hopefully that's better in the long-run than treatments with side effects.  And going by what you've said it sounds like you're in good hands, glad they were all so good with you, it makes a real difference having a good team around you.

Really hope it comes back not being cancerous, but we're all here if it's the bad news you get.

Fingers crossed!!!  Let us know how you get on.

    LJxx

  • Hi thanks for your reply..I must start by saying thank you for just replying to me..don’t like talking about it to anyone really just for the fact it’s no ones problem but mine..I’m currently waiting on results..I haven’t seen a dr since Friday which was when I had my biopsy which I think was a surgical one rather than punch biopsy due to the nature of the growth..but Monday when I couldn’t take my bandage off I noticed a brown spot under my big toe nail..not sure whether I should be concerned but not sure whether I should go and pester my gp which I hate doing or wait for results..I don’t know what I should do..getting me down abit now tbf..But thanks so much..understand that whoever you are do an amazing job..hope everyone respects what you do because your amazing as are the rest of all nurses and drs..you all deserve big pay packets for what you do you really do
