Multiple lymph nodes in neck

Hi

just wondering if anyone has been through or is currently going through this, I have about 4 enlarged lymph nodes in my neck that I know of , from what I can feel the one on the left side of my neck Beneath my ear is around 2cm firm but not rock hard and not moveable , I have 2 pea sized moveable ones and one grape size moveable one . I have had them that I know of around about 2 years with no change is size, I went to the doctors a couple of months ago and she said it was because of my acne (which I have had untreated for 5 years) so she changed my pill and that has really cleared up my acne but the lymph nodes still persist with no change? I am going back to the doctors tomorrow as they are worrying and if you couldn't already tell I have severe health anxiety , is it true that lymph nodes can just stay permanently enlarged after infection ps. I have had no weight loss, night sweats or anything just a little tiredness as I have been iron deficient , overalls feel fine apart from this anxiety taking over my life

I would really appreciate and comments thank you xx

  • Yes I am trying to. Doc wants me to have bloods done Thursday and given me antibiotics as the node are sensitive but not all the time so we will see. Thank you for replying ️ wish you all the luck in the future take care

  • Take care as well, keep in touch and let me know how you got on, will keep my fingers crossed for you that it's just an infection and the antibiotics work for you. Have a lovely day x

  • Thank you :) I do have a bad feeling but worrying can't change it so I'm going to carry on as normal and try and look after myself so if it is sinister I stand a better chance of fighting it xx

  • Hi :)

I've been lurking on here for a while, so thought I would jump in.

I've a lymph node on the right side of my neck since February. It's movable, painless (although when it first came up it hurt when I moved my head a certain way) and roughly around 1cm.

I went to the doctors when it first came up and she felt it was nothing sinister as I also had a cold and throat was inflamed. Weeks later, I got over my cold but node was still there so contacted the doctor (pandemic had started so it was done over the phone) who prescribed antibiotics as I was still having pain in throat and ear. Ear and throat pain has cleared up but yet node is still there.

I've also this weird itch (now going my google, a lymph node and itch dosen't look good) but I'm trying not to freak out and jump to conclusions too much about it as I've had this exact type of prickly itch around 3 years ago after a really stressful time, it had stayed around for a few months and then disappeared, there has been other stresses in my life this past few months, due to a family member being ill and then the stress of the pandemic so it could possibly be releated to that. (As the itch only really comes when I get panicky).

I'm gonna get in contact with the doctor and see what's best to do. My heart goes out to others who are worrying at this time as it really is so scary.

*Just editing to ad that I've had blood tests and all came back normal

  • Mine is a lot bigger a node that small my ent doc said not to worry but it's so hard isn't it. Have you had blood work done x

  • My blood work didn't show anything, I do get my bloods done every three months now. I'm not sure what they look for, maybe too many white cells or red cells, I'm not sure. My ESR under control atm so it gets checked as well.

  • So your esr and crp levels were always raised. Yes its usually white blood cells I think as they collect in the nodes don't they

  • Thanks for your reply Lisa. Yes I had bloods done and all thankfully came back normal. There has been Hodgkins Lymphnoma in my family, so when the node first came up, I was much more wary off it then I otherwise would have been. Like yours it seems to change slightly in size, but generally in or around 1cm.

Its just the fear of the unknown isn't it. Google will basically tell us the worst, but then coming on here it's so much more reassuring. I've been itching all morning as I've been so anxious again but now that I've relaxed a bit this afternoon the itch has stopped.

I hope all works out positively for you

  • And you mate. Have you tried an anti instamine see if he takes the edge off. I just hate how my chest Is feeling today feel like I'm swollen when I swallow. I just hope I have an infection how old are you did you say x

  • I'm 29. Yes, I usually take one in the morning and it calms  it down. Yes hopefully it is just an infection, it took nearly the full 10 day course of anitibiotics for my ear and throat to stop hurting but I've been feeling so much better since. (It just would have been nice if the lymph node had've went away too lol)
