Multiple lymph nodes in neck

Hi

just wondering if anyone has been through or is currently going through this, I have about 4 enlarged lymph nodes in my neck that I know of , from what I can feel the one on the left side of my neck Beneath my ear is around 2cm firm but not rock hard and not moveable , I have 2 pea sized moveable ones and one grape size moveable one . I have had them that I know of around about 2 years with no change is size, I went to the doctors a couple of months ago and she said it was because of my acne (which I have had untreated for 5 years) so she changed my pill and that has really cleared up my acne but the lymph nodes still persist with no change? I am going back to the doctors tomorrow as they are worrying and if you couldn't already tell I have severe health anxiety , is it true that lymph nodes can just stay permanently enlarged after infection ps. I have had no weight loss, night sweats or anything just a little tiredness as I have been iron deficient , overalls feel fine apart from this anxiety taking over my life

I would really appreciate and comments thank you xx

  • Ah I'm glad it wasn't too bad and that you're out of hospital! I have my ultrasound tomorrow. Feeling very nervous as two more lymph nodes have popped up in the submanibular area, which means I now have 3 there. Aswell as another two each side of my neck that have been getting bigger. Will see what tomorrow brings! I hope all goes well with your results Xx

  • Great your ultrasound is already tomorrow! Hopefully you can get some peace of mind! It is very stressful when you don’t know why these lymph nodes are swollen! I must say I’m so nervous now about what my biopsy results will be... I’m trying to not think about it but it’s impossible !

Let me know how your ultrasound goes tomorrow will keep my fingers crossed for you!

    xx

  • Hi Miks

Just read through this thread and I'm going through something similar, if not a step behind yourself.

Did you get the results, I hope all was okay?

I've just had my lymphnodes checked out via ultrasound as had persistant chesty cough and breathing problems, along with enlarged lympnodes for months. Radiologist said he saw some reactive but both sides of neck were suspect.

Just waiting for urgent ENT and biopsy referral. Fingers crossed!

  • Hi !

i am sorry for not replying yesterday I was anxiously waiting for my biopsy results which came this afternoon and I’m happy to share that my lymph node came back as only reactive after my excisional biopsy .I am so very relieved and so happy that I can finally put this behind me! So I hope this can help reassure others that a lymph node/s can definitely just stay up and reactive for a long time, ( I was not convinced of this  before today thanks to dr google!)Mine was there for 14months and also grew slowly bigger from February this year and at the time of biopsy last week was 2.45 cm!

i want to thank you all for being such a supportive group it’s so nice to have a group like this .

wishing everyone all the very best!

    take care

  • Amazing news!! Wishing you all the best Miks. :D

The relief must be next to none!

    Take care

  • Thanks AriaM

It is good your getting seen soon by ENT and getting a biopsy ( I should’ve pushed more for a biopsy a long time ago!) and I hope everything turns out ok for you too! Will be thinking of you and have my fingers crossed

    Take care

  • This is absolutely brilliant news Miks! So pleased to hear it :) No more worrying for you!

My ultrasound went well and the Dr said the lymph nodes are normal with the largest couple being 1cm. He said he couldn't see anything 'nasty'. They are still growing though so I'm going to leave them for a bit now and see what happens. I developed a blocked ear on the same side as the nodes about 3 weeks ago so going to see if my GP will refer me to an ENT Dr to get that sorted. Also developed some chest pains but hoping that's just as a result of anxiety from stressing about all of this!

Hope you're doing something nice to celebrate your great news!

  • Thanks Ewar! Yes I’m extremely relieved! Great news about your ultrasound and that nothing looks suspicious! Maybe it was to do with your ear perhaps you had a little infection you weren’t aware of. I hope you feel better soon and re: chest pains I had to at times I think it was definitely related to anxiety!

Wish you a great weekend and hope you feel back to normal soon!

    Take care

  • Hi.i hope you don't mind me jumping on this thread.i got an ultrasound due to pain in my neck and feeling exhausted.it showed a lump in my submandible space? I got referred for an urgent mri last week.when I got there they said they were giving me the mri with contrast dye then they said they weren't sure.they called a doctor half way through the mri then did another one.i should have asked more but I just wanted home.my mum died of lymphoma so I'm scared it's a similar thing.i feel exhausted all the time.any words of wisdom or advice would be welcomed

  • Hi, sorry you are in this site but that’s what we are here for, to support each other. Did they do any biopsies when they did the ultrasound? That’s the only way they can diagnose lymphoma. Maybe if they didn’t do it, that’s a good sign and went onto do the mri to rule out other things. It’s usually a ct scan after biopsies as this tells them what stage it’s at. It’s a pity they don’t explain what they are doing but they very rarely tell you anything after these tests, it’s your consultant that has that job to do. It’s a worrying time for you but treatment has come a long way now and maybe you will be one of the lucky ones. Let us know how it goes.
