Multiple lymph nodes in neck

Hi

just wondering if anyone has been through or is currently going through this, I have about 4 enlarged lymph nodes in my neck that I know of , from what I can feel the one on the left side of my neck Beneath my ear is around 2cm firm but not rock hard and not moveable , I have 2 pea sized moveable ones and one grape size moveable one . I have had them that I know of around about 2 years with no change is size, I went to the doctors a couple of months ago and she said it was because of my acne (which I have had untreated for 5 years) so she changed my pill and that has really cleared up my acne but the lymph nodes still persist with no change? I am going back to the doctors tomorrow as they are worrying and if you couldn't already tell I have severe health anxiety , is it true that lymph nodes can just stay permanently enlarged after infection ps. I have had no weight loss, night sweats or anything just a little tiredness as I have been iron deficient , overalls feel fine apart from this anxiety taking over my life

I would really appreciate and comments thank you xx

  • Hi Ewar

sorry to hear of the problems you are also having. I don’t know anymore yet as I have my follow up ultrasound this week on Thursday, but I’m like you have submandibular lymph node now 2.5cm plus smaller ones on both sides of neck. I was back at the eye clinic last Monday they’re  still saying my eye seems ok just blocked membion glands and I have a notch in the middle of eyelid where I had a small tumor taken off last year ( that came back benign as Seborrhoic Keratosis)I’m still not so sure though as my eye has never been the same since that biopsy and it’s super dry a lot less eyelashes on this eye and slightly swollen all the time...I know I shouldn’t but when I google those symptoms plus lymph node swelling what comes up is Sebaceous Carcinoma, I did ask eye dr about this he didn’t seem concerned even though I have the swollen submandibular ( same side as eye)and cervical lymph nodes? I guess I will finally get an answer once they do the excisional biopsy on my lymph node. I will let you know once I have had my ultrasound on Thursday I guess I will be booked in for the biopsy as the lymph node has definitely not gone down since taking the antibiotics. Do you already have a date for your eyelid lesion biopsy?I hope you can get some answers soon too!

    all the best

  • Hi everyone

hope your all well , [@Miks77]‍ I did read that there is a lot of benign Tumours that can grow in the salivary glands ( I see yours is under your jaw) did they say it’s a salivary gland? And they can grow quite slowly or fast, I’m unsure as to weather mine is a parotid salivary gland as the doctor said it could be a blocked salivary gland but I won’t know what it is until my app in 3 week. For about 6 years I’ve had a lot of trouble with my jaw , pain , stiffness , tension headaches and migraines (always been a headache sufferer from a child) can’t open the jaw fully eaither and on the left side when I open my mouth it feels like the jaw joint is sticking out and it doesn’t on the other side ? So I don’t know if they could be linked.

trying to stay positive , hope you guys get to the bottom of the problems with your eyes and nodes , I wish more people would come back to this forum after they have found out what’s wrong have you seen many people come back here with cancer diagnosis of lymph nodes?

    Take care xx

  • Hi Marie1234.

all I know is the biggest one is a submandibular lymph node he did ultrasound the parotid and submandibular glands and said they look fine I’m not sure if it’s the same thing or a separate lymph node? I also haven’t noticed many people posting with cancer spread to their lymph nodes but I’m not sure how I would feel either having that diagnosis I will keep you all updated though and hopefully with a positive post! Waiting is so hard it just makes the anxiety grow! Wish you all a great weekend!

  • hi miks77

yes I see what you mean but yes would be great if u could keep us updated I deffinatley will too, I know the waiting is killing me , keeping my fingers crossed for you

    have a great weekend everyone

  • Hi Miks, I feel your pain, I am obsessed with googling sebaceous carcinoma. Like you, I have the swollen submanibular gland on the same side as the eye (left). I have several swollen cervical glands on both sides which is odd! I've had them for 3 weeks now but no cold/flu/sore throat etc. I have some pain on the left, not sure if it's nodes pushing on muscle or something. I have my eyelid biopsy on Thursday so desperately trying to stay off Google until then. I am so miserable at the moment which is not like me. I have a 6 month old baby and I cannot even bare to think about negative outcomes. I hope all goes well with your ultrasound. I'm going to go to the docs this week to request one as unfortunately my lymph nodes are showing no sign of reducing. Please keep me updated. Thanks for the support Marie :) I guess you've considered that yours could be TMJ? Hope you get some answers too!
  • Yeah I have thought it was that for years but since having this lump i linked them together (health anxiety) not good lol x

  • Hi, just read your post, sorry you are on here and are waiting for results. Last May I had a lump in my neck, when I got my ultrasound and biopsy done , they said my paritoid gland was ok but submandibular gland looked suspicious the doctor doing the ultrasound said not to worry as it could be a thyroid problem., the biopsy came back with a rare form of lymphoma. I had treatment which ended in November. I had hardly any saliva but I have an auto immune disease as well and just thought it was that. Unfortunately six weeks of remission, the same lump came back again on the submandibular gland, more biopsies and unfortunately my cancer was back. It was too soon to have more treatment so as I feel well enough, I am on active watch and wait as it’s an indolent blood cancer. Hope this post doesn’t worry you too much, most biopsies do come back with a negative result. Guess I was the unlucky percent. Hope everything goes ok, even if it is the worse result, I coped very well on the chemo. Keep us posted.

  • Hi

so sorry to hear what you’ve been through, hope you can start treatment again soon and beat this nasty thing , if you don’t mind me asking how old are you and what was your lump like as in hard/soft big/small? Also did you have any other symptoms with your first lump , was it growing in size? You don’t see many people come back to this forum with a diagnosis most of the time so the only questions you can ask is google and the results are always worrying!

    Take care x

  • Hi, my lump was hard and it was quite large, it wasn’t movable and you could see it easily, I also lost a lot of weight, had night sweats and had terrible fatigue which again I thought it was my autoimmune problem. After the biopsy the lump did go down a bit in size but didn’t go away till after 3rd chemo. The lump I have now is pea size but you could see it easily on the ultrasound, my hope is I don’t get any of the B symptoms like the last time for a long time, after I had my ct scan, it showed enlarged nodes under my arm and at each side of my lungs and kidneys, I am 65 now. Hope this helps you.

  • Hi scones

thank you so much for answering my questions really appreciate it, Im quite a hypochondriac and I’ve had this lump in my neck for 2 years but I don’t think it’s grown and I haven’t had any symptoms but with what I’ve read online I’m just scared it’s some sort of indolent slow growing lymphoma , I have some other lymph nodes in my neck which are quite small , I know this would be rare as I’m only 22 but I have an ent app in 3 weeks so hopefully will get to the bottom of it , I really hope you don’t get any b symptoms too , please keep us updated x
