Rectal pain pressure

Hi all I would really appreciate your thoughts/experience. Since mid December I have been feeling a pressure like feeling in back passage area along with straining when I pass stools. There is intermittent mild pain almost like a pulsating pain. I have had streaks of bright red blood on toilet paper a couple of times but no bleeding from rectum or mixed in with poo. I Constantly feel as though I haven’t full evacuated and like something is stuck there. I have had bouts of diarrhoea in between but they usually only last for a few hours or at most a day. What is concerning me is that my stools are thinner not pencil thin or ribbon like but definitely narrower. I have suffered from bowel issues for Years especially constipation but GP always put it down to IBS and advised to drink more water and increase fiber intake. My GP doesn’t take me at seriously and puts my symptoms down to stress/anxiety So earlier this month I self referred to a colorectal surgeon whom I saw a couple of weeks ago. He said that although my symptoms are “vague” he is concerned about the pressure I’m experiencing. so I will be having MRI and scope but on NHS as I cannot afford private investigations. When I asked him if I should be worried he said at present time it’s impossible for him to say. I am stressing myself out as I work in cancer services and so am convincing myself it’s either anal or rectal cancer! I suffer from anxiety and in particular health anxiety I know google doesn’t help but only thing To explain my symptoms is the big C word...I’m due to start a new job in 2 weeks timing couldn’t be worse. All thoughts and advice welcome.

  • Well when it first started it used to fade away at night but then I'd wake up thinking I needed a bowel movement or pass wind and couldn't.. then I'd have a panic attack thinking I wouldn't be able to do it again or I'll be constipated.

yeah it does fade and I think it's gone then I wonder why it's gone then it comes back.

but at the moment I'm having a lot of pain from the external thrombosed hemhorroids which obviously isn't helping the situation.

  • yeah it does fade and I think it's gone then I wonder why it's gone then it comes back...... Sorry to quote u but cancer doesn't do that. It's there and always there. It wouldn't go away and then come back when u think about it

  • To be honest - I not really thought that it's cancer. But this forum is the only thing I've come across that relates to what I've got. I assumed it's more inflammation then anything else but I'm just concerned it's never going to go away. I think a lot stems from my mum having crohns and my grandad having had bowel cancer.

  • It won't go away when you keep thinking about it. It sounds like u have tension there. The piles are drawing you're attention to the area too. Everything passes. You may be sore down there and everything spasms up.

  • Hi there julieh I hope most of the people in this thread get to see my reply as I'm only 23 but due to medical problems I spend all days sitting on my bum and suddenly iv had weird feeling come on they really are all basically just like every person discribed in here. I haven't been for any kind of tests but from my past few years with the NHS I just don't feel like trusting them with my health as alot of times I visit my GP or somewhere where iv been referred they end up reading information from Google or medical books.

Please everyone that gets to read this have a read and watch a couple of YouTube videos about piriformis syndrome and sciatica one of those could be the mean problem of all your symptoms. They make your nerve trapped next to your buttocks that I have read that can make your cheek to leg sometimes even to toe but also can affect your anus and genitals making them feel like they are burning, throbbing or pins and needles am sure.

My first symptoms only first appeared 2 days ago but from some of the test I performed on my self it dose seem like I have just trapped my nerve by sitting too much but it also can be trapped by bad posture when walking, by jogging and running and other fitness stuff. This affects alot of people it's about find out out if your pain stats from bottom of the back or just in botocks if it's from the botocks then you have piriformis syndrome then you need to find out if it's a long piriformis or a short piriformis as long means you need to strengthen your side hip and bum cheeks to release pressure of the trapped nerve and if you have the short piriformis you need to stretch it out for the muscle not to be also trapping the nerve.

  • Hi guys hope yous always get to see this as I actually missed out one other thing that is could be also causing those symptoms please search up lavender ani syndrome that can also make you feel like something is also kinda near the passage and down other matching symptoms

  • Hey, not sure if you'll still be on this forum but I was wondering if the feeling you had went away or if you found out what it actually is.

I have had almost identical symptoms to what you had and it sounds like I'm running through the same mental processes as what you described!

I have my scope appointment in Feb with the NHS but it would be nice to know in the mean-time what you found out about it.

    Cheers!

  • How did your investigations go I have same issues along with others and I have bowel intersuseption a constant feeling if something stuck up there it's brutal pain
