Waiting for breast biopsy result

Hi

I had a breast biopsy and mammogram done last week and have spent the last 6 days in complete fear of the results. After the biopsy and mammogram I was called back into a room with the doctor and a bcn to be told the mammogram was very worrying as the mass looked highly suspicious. As a 42 year old mother of 2 I have been beside myself with worry it’s been with me 24/7 and anxiety levels through the roof!

Today I got my results (I was literally crying on the way into doctors room) it’s not breast cancer, it’s a Fibroadenoma. I wanted to share this so that anyone going through this awful time can see suspicious lumps don’t always mean cancer. I also want to wish everyone good luck whatever their outcome xx

  • Hi there,

That's great news and positive to read. I am 29 and found a lump just under four weeks ago. My doctor played it down saying he thought it was a cyst and so did the nurse at my examination when I went to the breast clinic. When they then sent me for an ultrasound and then quickly said they want to do a biopsy, I burst into tears. I am booked for this Thursday for my results and I cannot sleep all that well. I just want Thursday to be here so it's done, whatever the result is.

It's comforting reading all these posts x

    Hi Hannahbanana,

    Welcome to our forum.

I hope that you get good news on Thursday. Even with a cyst, they sometimes like to  check that there is no cancer present. Remember that only 1 person in 8 gets a positive diagnosis and, the younger you are, the more unlikely you are to have cancer.

Our minds tend to run away with us at this stage and, our sleep is often interrupted as a result. I hope that you get good news on Thursday.

Please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
