  • Thanks for the well wishes, I'm 33 I don't have any children.  Only recently found a lump I've never had any changes before in my breasts went along to the doctor's expecting to be re-assured it's nothing to be confronted with a breast clinic referral.  No re-assurances or anything that could calm my nerves even slightly.  I'm hoping this is standard for GP's but it doesn't really matter I guess, as the experts will tell me more.

To be honest it didn't become real until I had my letter with my apt things have moved quickly, but I'd rather that than more waiting.    Black and white always seems to make things more real.

I feel as though I'm in limbo technically I have nothing to tell but yet I have all this worry - looking forward to Friday, when I may know more, and lets not forget be worry free.

It has helped to know alot of people are in the same situation, I'm hoping for good news for everyone.

  • Yes it is a very worrying time the not knowing and nothing anyone can say will totally stop that. Try and keep busy it doesn’t make you forget but for a while you do think of other things. Most areas have a two week referral practise. Plus most will do a see the doctor then mammogram then if need be an ultrasound scan then maybe biopsies. This maybe be done all on the same day. Then normally about a week wait for results. Have you got someone to go with you? It’s worth writing any questions down as your mind goes blank the minute you walk in and you can’t always take everything in what they are saying x

    Hi Worried_jo,

Waiting on results is always a worrying time for all of us. Try to keep yourself busy to distract yourself from the wait.

I hope that you get a favourable outcome on Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Yes, I have someone coming along.  I was going to go myself but figured the moral support could be a good thing.   Definitely focusing on being busy to avoid the thought process.

Thanks for the advice, I will definitely ensure I have a list of any questions I come up against!

  • Hi jo . Just reading through this chat and see you have app Friday . I found a lump in my right breast 2 weeks ago doctor confirmed this saying it’s 1cm by 1cm and stationery he also said something prominent under right arm pit ( although feels no different to my left armpit to me ) my app is tomorrow morning and just feel sick just need tomorrow over and hopefully have good news . Sending positive vibes to you xx

  • Can understand your naturally worried like myself but please be re-assured we're going to see the specialists and from this forum what I have learnt is we'll be in the best hands.  My GP didn't say much just that I needed referred in a way I expected them to re-assure me this definitely wasn't the case.  Strangely I've awoken this morning with a clear mind, this week I have tortured myself with what if's which is counter productive.  Tears and off but I have been so thankful for work where I truly am worry free as I have so much work to do which has been a blessing!

I know it's an anxious time but try and keep busy until your apt today it really does help, there is a huge amount of people that have been in this situation and whatever the outcome they have coped and we will to!

Please let us know how you get on today, I'm wishing you the very best and hopeful for positive news.  I'll definitely be checking back to see how you get on.  Sending positive vibes.xx

  • Fingers crossed for you today xx

  • I was like that, work was a place I could escape from my thoughts and over thinking. Once people knew what was going on they said they knew something wasn’t quite right with me but didn’t know what. We have many masks that hide a lot. It’s when we get home and take off the mask that it all comes to a head and tears and mind wandering happening. It is so true you don’t feel it but we are stronger than we think. So much support on here though and that’s what sees us through it because it’s from people who have gone through it  x

  • Hi Beachbabe, I definitely know what you mean about work I'm just finished and had no thinking time. I'm in a good place at the moment for my apt Friday, actually not even worrying which is exceptional! To be honest there are so many scenarios in my life that I'm scared of but when it comes I cope this scenario is no different. It makes us the people we are today, to be fair it restores my faith in humanity to know there's so many caring people out there. That we can all support each other without even knowing one another it truly is amazing! Ali - I hope everything went well today, do let us know how you got on. Jo x

  • Must admit the ladies on the thread The good and the bad are amazing ladies definitely worth you dropping in on them! They helped me so much and like you say don’t really know them but in time you do and that’s another reason why I stayed on here to keep in touch with people and find out how they are getting on!

Ali hope your ok please let us know x

    HI Ali,

I hope that your appointment at the clinic went well today. Did you have some tests done and, did your consultant give you any indication of your diagnosis?

Am keeping my fingers crossed for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
